Despite a lack of support towards the microphone, Nintendo will still carry it.

Despite news of several retailers no longer carrying the device, Nintendo will still be fulfilling retail orders for the Wii Speak microphone.

Recently, Conduit 2 developer High Voltage Software confirmed that Nintendo told them to not use the peripheral for their online chat features in favor of PDP's Headbanger Headset. It hasn't been confirmed, however, if the title will still support WiiSpeak for those that still use it.

Titles such as Nintendo's Animal Crossing: City Folk and Endless Ocean 2, as well as Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri use Wii Speak. The new headset will not work on past Wii Speak titles.

Amazon also has the Animal Crossing bundle listed as discontinued, but not the Endless Ocean Blue World bundle. Though Endless Ocean was never available separately so they probably don't feel like creating a game-only version.

Actually there is a game only version it just isn't as wide spread as the Wii speak bundle.

Really? I've never seen it. And I've looked! I had to buy it used.

I bought the Endless Ocean bundle in anticipation of using Wii Speak for Monster Hunter Tri. I've not brought either game online yet. Are people using Wii Speak to play Monster Hunter Tri?

A number of folk use WiiSpeak in Tri.

I know I did but I also had a SUB keyboard. I found having both was the best. Typing for chats in the lobby and WiiSpeak for on the fly strategy and talks in actual fights.

I never actually used my Wii Speak. I guess it's a good thing I got it for $6. It's more of a collector's item than anything. Like, ROB... except boring.

I suspect the headbanger headset will be a much better voice chat solution.
