Keep your logical deduction hats on for Layton vs. Ace Attorney.

Professor Layton and the Ace Attorney series will be crossing over on the 3DS, according to Level-5, who recently held Level-5 Vision, an annual conference held at Level-5's offices in Tokyo.

Shu Takumi, creator of Phoenix Wright will write one scenario in the game, which currently has the keyword, "Witch Trial." The project began when Capcom considered using a trial that would not be able to happen in the Ace Attorney games.

The battle of the pointing fingers begins in the first screenshot gallery below.

Wow.  This is the sort of thing that I would have expected on April 1st.  :Q

I'm interested, though.

Tekken x SF? Small time
MVC3? Who cares?

This is the real crossover battle of the millenium!!

Talk about out from left field!

Don't know what to make of that. I've been conditioned to think that Capcom collaboration games with 'Vs' in the title are 2D fighters. Of course, there's no chance that's what's going on here (that would be a hilarious mismatch). Although 'Vs' is a strong indication that the two heroes are against each other, for whatever reason.

"I haff twelve maatchsteeeks!"

"OBJECTION!"

Man, talk about a completely bizarre pairing, though strangely in character with the Phoenix Wright universe.  I'm a little sad to see that Apollo Justice has seemingly been swept under the rug, as much as I love Phoenix.

I tried Phoenix Wright on a whim about two years ago.  I thought it was great but, after lending my copy to him, my brother became an Ace Attorney nut and has bought all the games.  I have been thinking about giving Professor Layton a try and now it seems like this is a sign to do so.  My brother will want this game but he'll need to be a Layton nut to REALLY appreciate it so I may need to repeat things where I take the plunge in trying a series and he becomes the nutbar fanboy.

SHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! I cant stop screaming of Excitment!!!!!!!

If this isn't a GOTY candidate, I'll eat Layton's hat.

Wow, I haven't played a Layton game but the awesomeness of seeing Phoenix Wright fully animated will be enough to get me excited for this game.

HELL...YES!

Kind of funny how both series are similar. Phoenix has Maya and Layton has Luke. Both investigate crimes, often involving magic and the paranormal. Both games require to use critical thinking to solve their puzzles.

The production values should be insane for this one!

Luke: "Professor!  I think I've got it!  It's a Step Ladder!"  ;)

EVERYONE SHUT UP! LUKE HAS SOMETHING TO SAY

I'm on the other side of the fence in that I love the Prof. Layton series, but I've never tried an Phoenix Wright game...I may have to try one out.

A gentleman never eats someone else's hat.

This looks like it could really turn out well.  I have been wanting to try the Phoenix Wright games.
