The trailer is so fast paced I couldn't tell how unoriginal and generic it was.

Wow. That was a pretty slick trailer. I, especially, like the line about "bringing multiplayer back to its roots".  Good stuff there. And a it's also a complete jab at devs who only create online single-screen multiplayer. Meh. I like my friends to be in the room with me, knowing I just took them down with a head shot. :)

I'm worried about the facility level . it looks soooooooooooo different.

It is. It's not even really reminiscent of the original for me in the least.

I am excited about this game.  I can't believe people are so upset about this game being unoriginal.  Come on seriously, there is nothing, original about ANY first person shooter being created these days.  At least, they are going back and trying to do something new with a beloved franchise.

And I am glad they are adding stuff in that may make the game seem different than original, but in a good way...we already had the original, I am excited about something new.

Now, my excitement does not mean that I will blindly buy this game.  It has to be good...and I am hoping they work hard to make it good.

Since this game is not a remake, I wouldn't expect any of the multiplayer levels to be the same as Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64. The single-player levels will be similar only because they were featured in the Goldeneye movie.

Unless the levels in the game used blueprints designed for the movie, I don't think they'd legally be allowed to use the same designs.

Didn't I read somewhere in an interview with the devs from Rare, that they made several extensive visits to the sets of where GoldenEye was being filmed?

I don't know. The Goldeneye Nintendo 64 game is a legal nightmare. Both Rare and Nintendo own the copyright, but there's more to it. The game's copyright is tied to the movie copyright. Activision, as the current licence-holder, has full access to all James Bond assets, which of course includes that movie. Does this mean they do have some stake in the game now? Even if they don't, the game uses a lot of copyrighted material that Activision can legally use. If they were to recreate levels from the game, how could Rare or Nintendo claim it as copyright infringement when they have no rights to the characters and settings? Don't forget, in Perfect Dark, Rare changed the name of the Facility level to "Felicity" due to possible copyright issues.

I'm pretty sure Rare owns the copyright to things they came up with not based on the movie, like the specific layouts of the multiplayer arenas.

Oops, I forgot to mention that. Yeah, I don't think Activision could re-create the multioplayer levels since most of them are not featured in the movie. As far as single-player though, I think they could create many of its levels very similarly, with the exception of the Silo since Rare pulled that one out of nowhere. But I'm not clear on the legality of it all, so I can't say with any certainty. It's a mess.
