Nintendo is releasing a health application called Almost Daily Health Notebook this week.

Nintendo filed a copyright for Hobo Nichi no Kenkou Techou, which roughly translates to Almost Daily Health Notebook, a new free health DSiWare application launching in Japan on April 21.

It is a conversion of the book Dear Doctors Hobo Nichi no Kenkou Techou, which is a health information book that came out in 2009 and was made by Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shimbun, a site that is operated by a company headed by Shigesato Itoi, the designer of Earthbound.

The application itself is kind of like a health notebook. You can list up to 16 illnesses you have and 24 medications you are on, and store detailed information about Influenza and HIV tests. In addition, you can read nine different articles on health, and complete a short seven-question survey before you go to the doctor (i.e. what kind of medicines have you taken recently?), which can then be shown to the doctor when you arrive.

Since it asks personal information, the application always asks for your birthdate whenever you turn it on. Also, if your DSi ever needs repairs, the application will be deleted by the repairers. You can alternatively back-up your saved game on an SD card so you can resume it when you get your system back.
