NEW COLOR PUTS NINTENDO'S WII REMOTE AND NUNCHUK IN THE BLACK

Oct. 14, 2009

Nintendo's iconic Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk™ controllers are getting a new look, just in time for the holidays. Ever since the Wii™ system launched in November 2006, the controllers have been available only in white. On Nov. 16, Nintendo introduces new black versions.

The new black Wii Remote controller will be available packaged with a black Wii MotionPlus™ accessory, which brings enhanced precision to games. The package will be available at a suggested retail price of $49.99. The black Nunchuk controller will be available separately at a suggested retail price of $19.99.

"The Wii Remote revolutionized not only how people play games, but also who plays them," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "The new color lets people customize their setup, and the controllers make great stocking stuffers for players of any age."

Finally.  Glad to see they are including the Motion Plus with it.  They need to next start putting it in with the Wii so it becomes standard.

TJ SpykeOctober 14, 2009

With 50+ million Wii's already out, it will never become "standard". It may become more common, but any games that require it will come bundled with a Wii MotionPlus (like Wii Sports Resort and Red Steel 2, both require it and both come bundled with it).

WHERE IS THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE BLACK WII FOR NORTH AMERICA NINTENDO!!!!?

Finally I can play my Wii and not be labeled a racist.

I think it is kind of strange how the black Wiimote is only available in a Wii Motion Plus bundle. What about the people who already have as many of those as they need?

I'm still waiting for the pink one to come stateside.

Ian SaneOctober 14, 2009

Hooray for $70 controllers. :(

Including Motion+ makes sense in theory but I found it very surprising that at E3 Motion+ was not much of a focus.  I assumed Nintendo wanted to make this the new Wii controller standard but so far Wii Sports Resort is it for the first party titles (with hints about the next Zelda maybe supporting it).  Nintendo showed some big games at E3 but none of them supported Motion+.  It seems their plans for it are more restrained and it's going to be more of an optional accessory like the balance board.

I don't have four remotes yet so I guess if I get another one I might as well change it up and get a black one.  I don't know why they don't offer other colours though.

They've got blue and pink coming to Japan on December 3rd, so I'm sure those will be released in North America at some point. It might be next year though.

That really doesn't make sense, but I'm sure stores will have them both in stock that day and sell tehm side by side.

Yeah, I had to double-check that.  I was like, what...really?  The NEXT day?

StratosOctober 16, 2009

I'm predicting broken street dates for the remote. I only have two remotes, nunchuks and M+ units wo I like that this one comes with the M+ and that it is black. Thought that guarantees that in the future I will be getting too many M+ because of the number of games that it will come packed with.

BlackNMild2k1October 16, 2009

maybe you can sell them to friends for cheap, or trade them in towards discounts on games.

StratosOctober 16, 2009

I was thinking Giftmas/B-Day gifts for friends and family.

How do you think a black Nunchuk would look along with a pink Wiimote?

Neither of those are the look I'm going for.

I hope they'll release a pink Nunchuk too...

You could buy one of those pick rubber nunchuck condoms. That makes most of it look pink.

I can't stand the Wiimote jackets so I doubt I'd like the Nunchuk ones. Plus I think they're ugly.

I wouldn't mind a Nunchuk jacket, actually. The Nunchuk has always felt a bit small and slippery to me, much more than the Remote.

StratosOctober 19, 2009

I actually don't mind playing with them if I have to on my parents Wii. I feel they are less of a distraction than the regular Wiimote ones.

THIS MAKES ME ANGRY!!!!

PAL region gets preferential treatment over N.A., BNM IS NOW ANGRY!!!

StogiOctober 20, 2009

Damn....it even has wii sports resort as a pack in.

StratosOctober 20, 2009

But the question is, will the pack-in M+ be a black one as well or will it be the old white M+?
