We finally have a date for Switch 2 preorders in the United States following two weeks of tariff talk.

A press statement from Nintendo today has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be available for preorder on April 24 (Thursday). The prices of the system - US$449.99 for a standalone system, $499.99 for the system + digital Mario Kart World - will remain as announced for now.

Most importantly, you can use tilt controls.

A regional Nintendo website may have spoiled an upcoming partner for Donkey Kong Bananza.

An image on the Nintendo of Korea page for Bananza - as well as the main homepage for the region - appears to show Pauline as a partner character with Donkey Kong. Although the image was removed, we were able to save it before removal:

United States consumers will not be able to preorder the Switch 2 as planned on Wednesday.

In a statement to GameSpot, Nintendo of America has confirmed the following: "Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged."

The Switch 2's most exciting new feature!

During today's Nintendo Treehouse live, Nintendo staff showed off the Gamecube titles coming to Nintendo Switch Online on Switch 2. When they briefly opened the options menu, we spotted an optional CRT filter. This is significant as the only other 3D system currently on NSO, the Nintendo 64, does not offer a CRT filter.

US pricing for anything related to Switch 2 should be considered tentative at this point.

The current United States government is moving ahead with a policy of tariffs (taxes on import) that could potentially cause dramatic increases in Switch and Switch 2 costs.

Announced at a news conference earlier today in Washington, the tariffs establish a minimum baseline tariff of 10% on any import into the United States, with certain countries seeing higher percentages.

Amiibo support for Switch 2 confirmed!

Five new Zelda amiibo were announced by Nintendo today shortly after the Direct. Tears of the Kingdom companions Tulin, Yunobo, Sidon, and Riju will get amiibo June 5th, the same day the Switch 2 releases, and Mineru's Construct will release as an amiibo on a later date. When scanned in Tears of the Kingdom, they "might" grant a paraglider fabric.

Including Borderlands 4, most famous for getting the Seth Rollins "no pop" when it was announced.

As the longest Direct in history, the Switch 2 Direct had a lot of things to cover.

Or at least in a similar timeframe for those without dates.

We're finally getting the other thing that keeps George R. R. Martin from finishing the books.

The ungodly popular games of From Software will be represented on Switch.

One of the first 3rd party announcements of the Direct was the "Tarnished" version of 2022's Elden Ring will come to Switch 2 this year. It will include the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion (2024) plus some new customization options on top.

Would you like a potentially fine Scarlet and Violet, or would you like another "this will give ARMS legs" joke?

It won't just be Switch 2 Edition games that improve from their original form, but some old games will be getting updates.

Nintendo has posted a page detailing games that will receive updates post-Switch 2 launch for better compatibility, or to simply make use of the system's power or features. The games are:
