Sin and Punishment Rated for Australia

Are North American and European releases imminent?

The Australian media ratings board, the OFLC, has listed Sin and Punishment on its site, giving it an M (Moderate) rating. In other words, the game is going to be released on the Aussie Virtual Console very soon.

The Treasure shooter is another in a line of Japan-only games that have recently been revealed for release Down Under. A handful of Japan-only games have been released around the world up to this point, but none of them had Japanese text. Sin and Punishment would need a bit of localization; is Australia getting the original Japanese version, or one with English text included?

More importantly, does this mean that the release of Sin and Punishment on the North American and European Virtual Console services is inevitable? We're constantly keeping our eyes open for new Virtual Console ratings, so we'll pass on any new developments as soon as they make themselves known.

Thanks to mhus for the tip!

As much as it was talked about, I actually didn't expect something like this to actually happen as Sin & Punishment is more of a cult title than anything. Hopefully this is a sign of an impending US release.

GIMME!

If it's coming to Australia, then you KNOW it'll come to America. Australia is a territory that gets screwed a lot by Nintendo and so if they're getting this game, then that 100% confirms everyone else will as well.

Super Metroid was first confirmed as a VC title by the Australian classification board, and we still haven't gotten that here, so yeah. =') It'll probably hit America next month, with an Aussie release late next year. This is very sexellent news, though! Sin & Punishment, Mario's Super Picross and Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels all confirmed so far. FAMICOM DETECTIVE CLUB PLZ, MARIO ARTIST PLZ.

YES! One of the best Adventure games EVER! (Part 2)

I used to have this game for N64. A buddy of mine picked it up for me on a business trip to Japan. I never beat it, so I'd love to see it get released on the American VC. I think the nostalgia and rarity factor may have contributed to Sin & Punishment being overrated a little bit, but it's still a great game.

THANK GOODNESS! I was hopeful about it coming ever since it was listed on that VC survey that was circulating before the Wii got released. With it coming to Australia, there's no way other English speaking countries should be left out.

Although I own and still play the N64 version from time to time, I will buy it on VC immediately simply for how easy it will to be to play on my Wii and to show to as many people as possible. Oh, and to play the game fully in English, even though it's just a bit of text that's lacking.

Silks may have a point about the game being overrated by some because of its rarity and it is definitely a bit short, but it is still definitely amazing to play through and a very memorable shooter (no doubt contributing to the nostalgia). Plus, like I've said before, the replay value is high; it's due to two player mode, ramped up difficulty and an unlockable super speed mode. I may be alone in this but the music is pretty sweet too.
