Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings Producer Eisuke Yokoyama confesses his interest in making a game with the balance board.

In an interview with IGN's Mary Jane Irwin, Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings' producer Eisuke Yokoyama revealed that he was interested in making a game that uses Wii Fit's Balance Board as a means of control. He gave no clue as to what the game might be, only referring to the possible title as "Final Fantasy Fitness". But when asked if there were any actual plans for a "Final Fantasy Fitness" he denied it outright, instead saying that he was very interested in how he could incorporate the balance board into future RPG titles on Nintendo's console. When asked about what his other projects might be, Yokoyama stated that Momotu Toriyama is working on FFXIII while he and his team are considering a sequel to Revenant Wings alongside entertaining the idea of a balance board controlled RPG.

Nintendo World Report will keep you posted on further developments concerning this balance board controlled RPG from Square-Enix. Stay tuned.

You know it's a non-gaming device when RPGs are being considered for it.

Well you can count Square-Enix as one of the companies who are interested in using the Wii Board for their games:

Question: Is there going to be a Final Fantasy-themed fitness game?

Toriyama: There are no actual plans to take Final Fantasy into the fitness genre, but that whole system and mechanism of using your weight and balance to control games is something we're interested in incorporating into future RPG titles.

RPGs are one type of game I don't want to have to stand for. It'd be like standing at the movies, only slightly interactive.

SE is abandoning traditional games. Confirmed.

Well if I remember correctly from the time that I bought the original PlayStation, Square had a bushido game. It might be something like that. For example 1:1 control of the sword with the remote while the balence board is used to help in parrying attacks. (and the numchuck to move.)

Perhaps they're thinking of a magic carpet game. That's pretty fantasy-themed, so it would fit with SquareEnix. Although EA would probably want to do it first... who owns the rights to Magic Carpet these days, anyway? EA or Peter Molyneaux?

Personally, since SquareEnix owns Taito, I think SquareEnix should make a Bubble Bobble game in which you have to stand on top of a gigantic bubble, and you could shift your balance on the balance board to roll the bubble toward things you want to crush on the ground, while using the remote to trap airborne and quick-moving enemies. That would be really cool.

I think it was called "Bushido Blade" BlkPaladin.

The original was really something else and quite realistic for the fighting (ie: I slash your leg you're going to be limping, or I strike you through the chest you're probably dead). It would be a perfect game for Wii.
