Project "PQRS" said to be like Jenga block-building with the charm of a Saturday-morning cartoon.

N'Gai Croal of Newsweek is reporting the first details on legendary film director Steven Spielberg's first foray into video games, including his first Wii title.

The Wii game, currently code-named "PQRS," is an action puzzle hybrid that "blends the creativity of the building-blocks game Jenga with the charm of a Saturday-morning cartoon," according to Croal. The game will allow players to manipulate blocks with the Wii remote in a way to where it will feel like an extension of your own hand. (Interestingly enough, Atari just made a Jenga game for Wii and DS official earlier this week.)

Of the game, Spielberg said, "it just seemed like a great thing for the entire family to play together over Christmas. Although you don't need the excuse of a holiday to enjoy it."

Newsweek also learned of another Spielberg game in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Code-named "LMNO," it is said to be a combination of the movies North by Northwest and E.T. wherein the player character needs to buddy up with a woman, and the decisions that are made will affect the ways the two help each other out.

Electronic Arts will be publishing three games from Spielberg in the deal, including the two announced here. The third game is still being kept under wraps. Perhaps EA will be showing all three at E3 next week?

We definitely need more information, but I think that it's great that Spielberg is trying out a new art form. I love that he created the concept with families in mind, since its always fun when your non-gaming friends/relatives can join in.

"From the mind who brought you the Atari 2600 Blockbuster E.T."

Steven Speilberg's project is Jenga???

I suspect that his game won't be Jenga in the same way that playing Speed with a deck of cards isn't Poker.

Please, he didn't have anything to do with that game.

He did, on the other hand, have a tangential connection to the game The Neverhood, which is good enough for me to have vague hope about this game, until I hear more about it.

The concept just doesn't sound very interesting to me. Sounds like the typical "the Wii is for families and kids" third party BS. "But Ian it's nice to have something to play with my family." Well if you want that then play, well, pretty much every other Wii game.

Im sad that the other game isn't getting a Wii port, the LMNO, the one that's basically E.T., except ET is some hot chick instead of a cute alien.

Me too. It sounds way more interesting than the game we're getting.
