Ubisoft Readies Jam Sessions for US

The acoustic guitar program for the DS is heading state-side.

Thursday, Newsweek's N'Gai Croal reported that Ubisoft will be in charge of localizing Hiite Utaeru DS Guitar M-06 for the DS. The US title will be Jam Sessions, which is much easier to pronounce.

The game was released in Japan in early February and allows you to use a stylus or guitar pick to pluck virtual strings on the touch screen. Unlike other music games such as Guitar Hero, the tempo is apparently not provided, giving players the opportunity to play songs at whatever speed they like. However, this could also make it much more challenging for those who aren't already practiced musicians.

The US version will be released in June and it has an additional save feature so you can play back your performances for friends later on. See the original story for N'Gai's impressions of the game.

How can you play two different notes at once with the touch screen only able to register one spot? I can't wait to give this a go.

I think the D-pad and L button are used to play chords, not single notes, so you are ALWAYS playing at least two different notes per strum. As for the touch screen, it is laid out with the strings, so if you want to hear the notes of the chord more separated, you could simply slow down that strum.
