Telltale Games is looking for a Wii programmer. Are Wii players due to get Sam & Max or other episodic content?

Friend of NWR and all-around fun guy, Chris Kohler recently noticed that Telltale Games has posted a job listing for a Wii Systems Programmer.

While the developer has only been around since 2004, the company is headed up by guys that created some of the top adventure games for LucasArts back in the day. They've had recent success developing episodic games for PC with Bone and Sam & Max.

At this point, there's no telling whether either of these series is headed to Wii, but the responsibilities listed for the job do refer to adapting existing PC assets. Telltale Games was founded behind the vision of episodic content. So, there's a fair chance we'll see their work in the Wii Shop instead of on a disc.

Sam & Max, Sam & Max!!! If it's not Sam & Max, I may have to cave in and buy a couple of the PC ones. face-icon-small-frown.gif

I'm still waiting with buying S&M until I see it in a box in a store.

If you buy them online I think they say they'll send you CDs if you want. I'm waiting for a full "season" since I think it's cheaper than buying individual episodes, and so I'll have a more sizeable amount of game to play through without having to wait for the next episode.

The full season is already available for purchase (my brother got it for me for Christmas). Yes, it is cheaper than buying all individual episodes. Even if you buy the whole season, you still do have to wait a month between episodes and at the end of the season they send it all to you on disc (presumably boxed). I think you have to pay shipping, though, so you have to decide if it's worth getting a boxed copy of a game you already finished by then.

I've played through the first two episodes (I'm guessing the third will be available soon if not already - I've been kinda busy). I like them so far. They're kind of short-ish. But avoiding looking up a walkthrough on GameFAQs for adventure games (which was starting to become a habit >_>), the length becomes decent for the price, IMO. And it's Sam & Max, so it's cool. (Minor gripe: I don't like how they changed voice actors for Max between the two episodes, because one of my favourite lines in the first episode (Sam looks at some nachos named "Not'Chos", and Max says, "They're mine, not'chos!") wasn't delivered in quite the same way when it was rerecorded. >_< Oh well.)

I said it before, though...the relative lack of storage on the Wii makes it difficult. I suppose if WiiConnect24 could download games in standby mode and everyone could be expected to have several SD cards of decent size, then maybe they could bring Sam & Max right over pretty much as is. Of course, I personally would like something new, or different from the episodes I'm already playing on the PC.

If you buy the full season you get access to each episode as they appear, you don't have to wait until the whole season's available.

Another good reason to do it early is that the price will almost certainly be going up after the season's complete, and you get the whole series on a DVD, in a box, for free (when it's available).

Telltale were looking to bring Sam & Max to the Wii ages ago, all they had to do was convince Nintendo that the market was there. They did (with a little help from their fans constantly emailing Nintendo), and Nintendo sent them the developer kits.

Cool!

Buying online requires a credit card AFAIK.

I know it's available now. I meant I would wait for all the episodes to actually be released so I could play them all at once in a decent sized chunk.
