Catch a Mew Tomorrow at Toys 'R' Us!

Bring a GBA with your favorite Pokemon game to your local Toys 'R' Us and they will trade you a Mew.

To celebrate the release of the new Pokemon movie 'Lucario and the Mystery of Mew', Nintendo and Toys 'R' Us teamed up to hold a special event at Toys 'R' Us stores across the US. The event takes place between noon and 3pm tomorrow, September 30th.

In order to receive your Mew, make sure you bring a Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Advance SP (Game Boy Micros will probably not work) with a copy of one of the following Pokemon games.

It seems as though it will work like a traditional Pokemon trade using the Game Boy Advance Link Cable. Therefore you must have a Pokemon you are willing to lose in your party at the time of the trade (You better go catch a magikarp!). Also, make sure your game is saved at the top floor of a Pokemon center to save time.

If you want to get Mew on your Pokemon Emerald game, you must have the National Pokedex, which you receive after beating the Elite Four.

This is one of the rare opportunities to get Mew legitimately in the US. Don't miss it!

Does anyone have a 12 year old relative I could hire to take my game into the store?

So...what about Canada?

Plus, I notice the news says "trade". I'm guessing we ought to put a useless Pidgey on our team to trade.

I changed the article as I'm not sure about Canada. Are there even Toys 'R' Us stores there?

Also, from the article.

I have a legitimate Mew I got from a Pokemon tourney...on Pokemon Yelow.

My old games are worthless now. face-icon-small-frown.gif

It's like this was announced just for Deguello, who's been lamenting to me lately about Mew.

How backwards do you think we R? (Heh, get it? Backwards R? Okay, forget it.)

Okay, I guess some stores are exclusive to the States but we've had Toys R Us for a long time.

Never mind, I'll check the Canadian Nintendo and Toys R Us web sites.

For some reason I read this headline as "Catch a New Mommy at Toys 'R' Us!" Yeah, it's early.

My brother, despite being 20, is as much of a Pokemaniac now as he was when he was in elementary school so we'll have to check this out. I hope it's available in Canada but I wouldn't be shocked if it wasn't.

Could be worse, there are no T'R'U stores within 100 miles of my place.

This will be the first time I can get Mew legitametly (the closest Nintendo ever brings their tours to me is New York City, which is a 6 hour drive), but I don't own a GBA or GBA SP. I use my DS or Game Boy Player to play GBA games, so it looks like I won't be able to get Mew for my FireRed game.

vuduSeptember 29, 2006

If you show up with just your game I'm sure you'll be able to find someone nice enough to loan you his/her SP for a couple minutes.

JonLeungSeptember 29, 2006

Oh, it DOES say that you need to bring a GBA. I'd've thought they could've just stuck your game cartridge into a dedicated Mew machine and just asked you which Pokémon on your team to replace.

I also want Celebi, Deoxys, as well as the special ticket items or whatever I need to get Lugia and Ho-Oh in the GBA games. I guess this is just to promote the new Mew movie though, but still!

They also say "While supplies last" in the article... This puzzles me. I almost wonder if a rep is going to be there with a game that only has so many Mews on it or something...

1998 called, they want their fad back...

NephilimSeptember 29, 2006

This will be good for kids in touraments, and the former trainer name will prove its a legit pokemon or action replayed one

You fail. I went to TRU today (not to get a Mew, although I would have if I had felt like digging out a copy of Pokémon again...) and, damn... the line to get a Mew was *LONG*.... I'm glad I didn't wait to get one. I noticed tons of SPs, a few GBA and one kid playing his DS. People of all ages were waiting in line, playing against each other and such.

PaleMike Gamin, Contributing EditorSeptember 30, 2006

I can't believe I freaking did it...

I waiting for 2 flipping hours to get the dumb Mew. I went there expecting the place to be empty and it was PACKED. Ugh.

All that said...

MEW GET!

UncleBobRichard Cook, Guest ContributorSeptember 30, 2006

Bah, my Action Replay lets me get Mew in twenty seconds. face-icon-small-wink.gif

Mew, eh? Yeah, I got one of those too.

If you mean from the GBA games, I'd say Milotic without doubt considering how hard it is to catch a Feebas and on top of that how hard it is to evolve it.

PaleMike Gamin, Contributing EditorOctober 01, 2006

Arbok is right, though evoloving isn't that hard if you know what kind of Feebas to look for once you find the magical spot in the water.

My feebas got stolen out of my car way back when.... Maybe someday I'll get up the nerve to try and find him again.
