If you are a big enough Nintendo fan you might stand a chance at getting a free advance copy of Nintendogs.

Nintendo has launched a campaign to give away free early copies of Nintendogs to their most dedicated fans. By visiting this website you can check to see if you are eligible.

However, it is currently unclear exactly how one qualifies for this giveaway. Reports from various message boards indicate that some "my nintendo" users with over 25 products registered still do not qualify. Some of those picked received emails to tell them. Keep checking PGC for updates on this story as we investigate.

You probably have to be a sage

A:
Sages are hand-picked by Nintendo. There is no formula for becoming a Sage. To be considered, you should participate regularly in Nintendo's official online forums, or in Nintendo Power chat, offer intelligent, constructive commentary, be an upstanding member of the community, and you may be invited to be a Sage.

ssj4_android, someone over at 4cr got chosen and he isn't a sage. It says in the e-mail he got that "Based on your My Nintendo product registration" it was chosen.

Too bad I didn't get one... face-icon-small-sad.gif

nickmitchJuly 21, 2005

Well, I've got 26 products. I hope I qualify.

joshnickersonJuly 21, 2005

I've got 40 registered and I got nothing. face-icon-small-sad.gif

I think that to be chosen, you need to own at least one game from every genre, including the video cartridges. I could be mistaken though.

I really wish that Nintendo would at least give some information on how they are choosing people. This kind of alienates their consumers by saying "you got it, but you didn't" without stating the reason(s).

Someone was told from a phone call they made to NOA that you needed the DS and 10 games registered.

Uhh, I have a DS and have more than 10 games registered... Just not 10 DS games. I only have 5 nintendo (of america) games registered. face-icon-small-sad.gif I wish some of my imported games would count. ^_^; I doubt if I get enough games right away if I'd get in...

KDR_11kJuly 22, 2005

I don't think they have set rules for that, mostly flipping a coin.

If it requires ten DS games registered, that's a joke. There aren't ten DS games worth owning that have been released in the U.S. (though it's getting close, finally).

I don't think there are even 10 DS games with codes out right now. You only get codes in Nintendo published games.

miedoJuly 22, 2005

Yeah, I was thinking it was a little strange too. I didn't know though, because I only have seven games marked down.

KDR_11kJuly 22, 2005

Maybe they give 'em out based on certain categories with each category having a limit to the number of entrants? E.g. three to the most active posters, 7 for the most registered games, 9 to the first to enter and one to bind them all^W^W^W^W some tournament winner?

joshnickersonJuly 22, 2005

Well, you might have to be fairly active in the Nintendo.com boards too. I know I'm hardly over there (since it seems to be entirely inhabited by ten year olds who think gaming started with the N64)

nickmitchJuly 23, 2005

I just read the official rules of this giveaway, and I noticed this:

Canadian entrants may be required to correctly answer a timed mathematical skill test and question to claim a prize.

And I laughed and I laughed tpg.gif
