Japanese Price Drop Announced GC

Finally, word of the official new price in Japan.

According to Nintendo's Japanese site, the GameCube will be dropping in price there soon as well.

On October 17, the GameCube will be selling for 14,000 Yen (about $120 US). The Enjoyment Plus Pack which includes a Game Boy Player and Memory Card 251 will be reduced a little sooner on October 10th for a price of 19,800 Yen (about $170 US).

Nintendo Reports Losses

Mario isn’t the only thing in red right now.

Nintendo has projected a net loss for the first time in its publicly-owned history. Earlier today, Nintendo regrettably informed its investors that instead of the 15 billion yen profit predicted earlier for the fiscal half-year, the company expects to suffer a loss of 3.0 billion yen (around $27 million). Nintendo is currently 7 million yen into the red.

New Donkey Konga Info

Details are finally surfacing on Nintendo's first Bemani game.

Japanese gaming site Quiter (link above) is reporting that the new issue of Dorimaga magazine has a load of information on Nintendo's upcoming music game, Donkey Konga.

Apparently, up to four players can participate in the game's selection of 32 songs, which range from kids' songs to pop, latin, and dance music. There is also a game mode like Donkey Kong Junior; perhaps you control the younger gorilla by keeping up with the beat.

Twin Snakes Delay? GC

Nintendo's official website says so.

Nintendo of America's official website now lists a Q1 2004 release date for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. The game was previously expected to come out before the end of the year in North America.

Nintendo.com does occasionally contain errors, though we doubt it's the case here. However, PGC will be checking up on this story with Konami and Silicon Knights for confirmation and further information.

Konami has updated their official website for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes with the new trailer shown at the Tokyo Game Show. This new trailer shows off a ton of action sequences, which have been directed by acclaimed Japanese action film director Ryuhei Kitamura. Be warned though, because this trailer contains a good deal of spoilers. So, watch at your own risk.

Bandai Shows off Special GC and GBA GC

Japan always gets the tasty goodies.

At TGS, Bandai is showing off special "Char" editions of the GameCube and GBA SP. "Char" refers to Char Aznable (aka "The Red Comet"), a character from the Gundam universe's Duchy of Zeon. Like most of these special editions, these red beauties probably won't make it out of Japan, but at least you can take a nice long look at them here thanks to GAME Watch.

Nintendo Announces Wireless GBA Link GBA

Now you can get your link on without the mess.

Nintendo recently announced at the Tokyo Game Show a wireless link adapter for the Game Boy Advance and GBA SP. The device will allow players to link up just as if they are using a standard link cable, only without the wires involved. The adapter's signal can reach several meters, but no specific distance is known yet. It was developed in conjunction with Motorola.

It looks like Sony's snatched this one up for Europe, but PGC gets the full story on the US release.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) recently announced I-Ninja as a PS2 exclusive, releasing Q1 2004. We were surprised by the news, as Namco had already begun advertising the title for other platforms, and it seemed a bit late in the development cycle for such a deal.

One of Capcom's surprise TGS announcements is a new Mega Man RPG...this one starring Mega Man X and pals, and it's not for GBA.

Famitsu.com has a single screenshot and details on one of Capcom's big TGS announcements. Rock Man: Mission Command is an RPG for GameCube and PlayStation 2, to be released sometime in 2004 in Japan.
