GamePro confirms that a sequel is coming, but to which platform?
GamePro's January issue has an exclusive reveal of the next title in the Puzzle Quest series, Puzzle Quest 2.
This is the first confirmation of a direct sequel to the 2007 multiplatform (including Wii and DS) hit Puzzle Quest. A follow-up title, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, was released earlier this year, but did not receive the same critical acclaim as the original.

Germany's USK software rating board spills the beans.
In a filing submitted on November 26, Germany's USK (software ratings board) has revealed Tetris Party Deluxe.
Listed as coming to the Nintendo Wii, the title will be published by Tetris Online Inc., who also published the original Tetris Party for WiiWare in North America and Europe. There is no developer listed, but the original game was created by Hudson Soft and released in October 2008.

Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX is celebrating Christmas early as a free downloadable quest is available that features a recognizable character named Mr. Claus.
Living on a northern frozen island, the well-known Christmas gift-giver looks after a horse and requests aid in looking for a specific item.

A new game, a new promotion, and potentially a new movie are headed to Japan.
At the Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute premier event in Japan, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino provided details on the future of the Professor Layton franchise. The next game in the franchise will be called "Kiseki no Kamen," or "Miracle Mask." There were also hints given about a future movie in the franchise to follow the first movie, Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, releasing in Japan this December.

The new extra-sized DSi launched to solid sales in Japan on November 22.
Enterbrain reports that Nintendo's latest portable system, the DSi LL, sold 103,524 units in two days after its launch in Japan.
The system, which features 93 percent larger screens than the regular DSi, made its debut in Japan on November 22. It sold better than the PSP Go in Japan, which opened with 28,000 units, but sold less than the DSi's launch number of 170,000 units sold.

The Zelda chief reflects on the franchise benchmark and the evolution of the series since its 1998 release.
In a recent interview with Spanish-language site Revogamers.net, Zelda series creator Eiji Aonuma stated that he finds 1998's landmark title The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to be "not very good" when compared to recent Zelda games. The title, which regularly tops best-of lists, is widely regarded as one of the best games of all time, and currently sits atop the list of best reviewed games at Gamerankings.com with a 97.66% score.

Red Octane discusses a model that will let you be all the Hero you want to be, for a monthly fee.
In an interview with the Seattle Times, Red Octane co-founder Kai Huang hinted that the company may be looking at a monthly subscription model for Guitar Hero DLC content in the future. When asked about the possibility, Huang responded, "That's definitely one of the things we would love to do. There are a lot of issues around music licensing. Consumers want it; I know I want it. We're trying to make that happen."

The Nintendo legend weighs in on Project Natal and the PlayStation 3 Motion Controller.
In a recent interview with Official Nintendo Magazine UK, Shigeru Miyamoto responded to questions about rival gaming console's upcoming motion controllers by saying "Well, I should say that it could be taken as a compliment if others are following suit, by saying Nintendo was right in choosing a certain direction. But if you ask me if that is going to be good for the entire business, I really don't know."

Super Smash Bros. and Pilotwings are also set to come out this holiday season.
Super Mario Kart is hitting the North American Virtual Console on November 23, according to GameSpot.
The original Mario racing title, which is already out on Virtual Console in Japan, won't be the only Nintendo-published title on the service this holiday season as the first entry in the Super Smash Bros. series and Pilotwings series are also hitting Virtual Console soon.

Three out of their four recent Wii titles didn't make their money back.
In a candid manner, Marvelous Entertainment stated in a financial presentation that they lost money on three out of four Wii games they published in 2009. The four titles in question were Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Arc Rise Fantasia, Little King's Story, and Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga. The profitable title wasn't specified.
