It's amazing there was this much tax deductible content in the two and a half hour long Krafton / NCSoft Direct.
It's Gamescom week in Europe, and the Geoff Keighley-hosted Opening Night Live did have a decent Switch 2 / Switch presence in it.
The headlining announcement was a Switch 2 release of the forthcoming remastered version of The Witcher 3. Originally released on Switch in 2019, the Switch 2 upgrade... Read more...

You know, at some point it'd be nice to write about a price DECREASE.
Alongside a reminder of the Switch 2's price increase next week came a pair of bundle offers for the North American markets.
Nintendo of America has announced two Switch 2 and game bundles to come following the Sept 1 raise of the Switch 2's base retail price to US$499.99. The first will be the... Read more...

We see you over there hitting Y to doubt, but it seems to be happening.

"Colonel, what's the game that killed 95% of game websites doing here?"
To once again borrow the quote from 1996 Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle: "Truth be told, I'm not a big fan of the Dark Souls. And if I could make any developer in the industry tap out, it'd be Miyazaki." Yes, I have to be reminded that the game that led to a six month later death of scores of video... Read more...

Sometimes the last minute grenade is actually a stink bomb, but this week it was a celebratory firework.
Things were looking bleak for the eShops this week when this process began on Saturday, where it looked for all the world that the main releases were another Aksys / Idea Factory collab (Over RequiemZ - and yes, it is set in Oz) and the threatened DayZ Switch 2 release. Hekke grace, we ended up with a nice surprise a bit ago when the Switch 2 version of 1000xResist popped up on the eShop: more details here.

Time to arrange for things to get stored.

Donald's birthday is Saturday, so hopefully there's not a repeat of last year on Sunday.
There are two major games with a lot of Middle Eastern baggage that would normally be the headliners this week, so let's see what else awaits the Switch 2 and Switch eShops... well, both platforms get the PC obsession Clover Pit for all your slot-related needs, 3D platformer Duskfade lands on Switch... The only thing bigger than the digital sales ratio is the profit growth.
Nintendo has released its results for the first fiscal quarter (April 1 - June 30) of the fiscal year, and though it would seem to be a tough comparison to last year which had the Switch 2 launch, year 2 definitely got off to a better start in the profit / loss department.
All figures quoted in yen with a US$1 = ¥157.86 rate used to provide US$ figures for comparison only.

Mired by a plague of slop, the store it moans (See what? Hear what?)
On what should be a holiday week in Japan which will hopefully keep the news desk's weekend work to a minimum, there's a few familiar faces in the Switch 2 sections. As promised / threatened in the last Direct, we have Big Walk and Lies of P coming to Switch 2, alongside a couple of indie cross-platform games (without upgrades) in Montabi and Obakeidoro 2. There's also Parkasaurus from Atari, which makes two weeks in a row with dinosaur sims.

Surely if Danhausen can uncurse the Knicks to a championship he can uncurse the Nintendo Classics with enough human monies.
Expansion Pack-level subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online will be getting some lost media and some burnable media in the first two weeks of August.
The first update on August 4 will see the previously unreleased Zero Racers and D-Hopper come to the Virtual Boy library. Originally announced in January, the games will accompany the promised update to allow for color customization instead of the standard Virtual Boy red.

Featuring a game that, much like Drake, likes to strike a chord and that chord is...
There was a time in preparing this week's listing that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was the lowest ranked Switch 2 game by revenue - sadly, that was in the North American eShops where the rankings are based on revenue and the only part of the game listed for sale on Switch 2 is the upgrade pack. If the... Read more...

Can't do much to make the acquisition of blades, the characters, or the plot better but at least it looks passable.
The RPG we don't talk about is getting a Switch 2 edition next week, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is getting another -saga Blade in the package.
An overview trailer for the game has been released claiming the July 30 patch (October 1 for a physical edition) will run at 4k resolution / 60 frames per second docked or 1080p / 60 FPS in handheld mode. Brief footage of the Merc Assault mode was also shown.
