The Seamus Blackley Interview

by the NWR Staff - April 3, 2003, 12:50 pm EST

Billy sits down with the former Xbox co-creator and talks to him about his new company, game development, the state of the video game industry, and of course...Nintendo.

During the Game Developers Conference, (ok the coverage is

finally over) I got a chance to sit down and talk with Seamus Blackley, Vice

President, Development for Capital

Entertainment Group, a video game production company.  But if that name

rings a bell, it’s probably because Seamus was previously the

Chief XBox Technical Officer, and one of the main forces behind the

creation of the XBox.

Seamus has since left Microsoft, and now is back in

the game making business.  After listening to part of a talk he held at D.I.C.E.,

and then getting to meet him after, I decided it would be fun to sit down and

pick his brain about the state of the industry, making multiplatform games, and

his thoughts about Nintendo.

The audio interview runs almost 50 minutes long, and we’ve

created two different MP3 downloads for you.

I’d like to personally thank Seamus Blackley for taking the

time to speak with us. I think this interview is really informative and

entertaining for gamers and developers.  We hope you enjoy it!
