Simple puzzle fun with a cute robot and the Wii U GamePad!

Neko Entertainment is bringing the puzzler Tetrobot and Co. to the Wii U eShop and we had a quick go at their booth. The concept is simple: Help a cute little robot navigate puzzle chambers, and clear them all to finish a level. Unlike other games, you will not control our new friend directly. You move Psychobot, as the creature is called, by tapping on locations in the environment instead. The player can use either a Wii Remote or the Wii U GamePad’s touchscreen for this, which works well.

The gameplay from the demo seemed streamlined from the beginning until the very end. At the start, you are only asked to walk by switches, allowing you to fly through the first couple of stages. However, it does not take long before that it starts introducing elements that can really make your brain hurt. You have will to collect materials, which come in the form of blocks. Your puzzle knowledge will be put to the test, as these blocks must be placed on specific locations to proceed. Varieties include TNT, wood, metal, and special golden blocks that will help you to reach 100% completion on a level. In addition to these blocks, other mechanics are introduced as you move along. The cannons are noteable, which throw Psychobot and the blocks all over the place.

What makes the game is so fun to play is how it is presented. It has a simple (yet crisp) and colorful look that quickly grabs your attention, making it engaging to have a quick go. Off-TV Play is, of course, fully supported mostly because the game makes active use of the touchscreen. Add a bunch of cheery music from Morusque and you are in for quite a fun ride.

Tetrobot and Co. seems like a cute and fun puzzle game for the Wii U eShop. The true brainiacs will have more than 50 levels to play through, which can be done both on the television and the Wii U GamePad. Neko Entertainment has mentioned that the game will be releasing very soon as it’s already on its way to lotcheck!
