Napoleon

Napoleon is the first real-time war simulation game for Gameboy Advance.

I've played Napoleon for about an hour or so, and so far I've been having a blast. The game is something like a really scaled down version of Warcraft, but its play mechanics are different. The core gameplay is basically controlling Napoleon, and using him as a "cursor" you select units and order them around. You can send a unit to join a group (that is lead by a special character) or you can have that unit fight a specific enemy, move to a location, or enter a city. There's a small variety of units, each with their advantages and disadvantages. So far I've seen regular ground units (infantry, calvary, cannon units) and ship units.

As you may already know, this game is most definitely not historically accurate. Napoleon's adventure will lead him to exotic locations like Egypt as he fights the british. But he'll also encounter the insane Madam Taso who rides in a huge alien mech that shoots fireballs (don't ask).

About 6 special characters join Napoleon throughout the game. I've already netted 4 of them, so I hope i'm not too far into the game (only up to chapter 8).

There are multiplayer options that sadly I am unable to try out. The game is Mobile GB Adapter compatible. You can DL new scenarios and play w/ other friends. There's a 2 player mode as well.

Scenarios start out pretty simply but they start getting more complex, which is how war sim games should be. While the game seems pretty simple at first, I was really delighted by how complex and diverse the scenarios are getting. This game is most definitely not "the same old same old" for every scenario (like a few RTS games i've played).

Overall Napoleon is a really fun game. However be warned that the copious amount of Japanese in the title may prevent most from enjoying it.
