If it's a pre-Tokyo Game Show Direct and there's a Monster Hunter to talk about, it's going to lead off a Direct.

After announcing the release of the 2025 hunting action RPG in June, Monster Hunter Wilds's Switch 2 version had its first footage today - alongside a release date of December 4. All of the updates made after the game's initial release on PC/PS/Xbox will be included, as well as a four player local multiplayer option.

The announcement also confirmed the "Ascendance" expansion will come to Switch 2 in 2027, which is the current date for all platforms: it isn't clear if the expansion will launch day and date on Switch 2 or if there will be a delay due to the delayed release of the base game.
