Moon Chronicles will be available exclusively via the 3DS eShop on May 15, developer Renegade Kid announced today.
Moon Chronicles is an updated version of the Nintendo DS first-person shooter Moon, complete with enhanced graphics running at 60 frames per second, full 3D, and Circle Pad Pro support. The game is going for an “atmospheric sci-fi” vibe to go along with a story-driven episodic structure, with the narrative focusing on investigation of a mysterious hatch on the surface of the moon.
Moon Chronicles’ initial release next week will be priced at $8.99 for the first of four planned Season 1 episodes, with the additional episodes available at a later date as $1.99 DLC.
This first episode is said to feature around four hours of gameplay and comes with a Bonus Mission called Tsukigami’s VR Training, which “helps you perfect your skills, while providing some intense first-person shooter action.” The upcoming DLC episodes are expected to present about 2 hours of gameplay.
While Season 1 is essentially a remake of Moon for DS, next year’s planned release of Season 2 is expected to feature all-new gameplay and story content.
