IMPRESSIONS: Pac'N Roll
« on: May 19, 2005, 12:58:38 PM »
The Pac is back.

Pac ‘N Roll was my favorite DS game at E3 2004. It has returned this year, and is once again very fun.

The basic concept remains the same. The touch screen is used to roll Pac-Man around like a ball. The gameplay is based on classic Pac-Man, meaning that the yellow hero munches dots and power-pellets.

The game feels slightly slower than before, but equally fun. The touch screen controls are spot on. Pac-Man now has the ability to tackle. Quickly dashing the stylus from Pac-Man to the edge of the touch screen flings him across the screen as an attack.

The levels start simple but get complex later on. Some parts have no walls, so it’s possible for Pac-Man to fall off and die. There are costumes strewn about the levels, but I could not figure out if they do anything other than changing Pac-Man’s appearance. One of them gives him a cap similar to Link’s (which also has wings on it, I think), and the other covers him in a suit of armor.
