Nice review.  I had no idea the game lasted so long.  Most reviewers made it seem like the game lasted less than ten hours.  I'm going to pick up this game as soon as I'm done with Trauma Center.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

If you go through it in 10 hours, you're either really good at solving mysteries (unlike me) or are missing a lot of the entertainment found in triggering "non-vital" conversations (such as pressing each part of a testimony).  AussieBen is no stranger to PC-style point-and-click adventure games, and it took him at least 15 hours.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun with it, and I was pleasantly surprised with how long it took.  The game's well-written, too - the translators did a stellar job of making everything relevent and still keeping it genuinely funny.  I really hope the other two GBA games somehow make it across to the US, too - I imagine they'd be just as much fun to play.

I must say, the game's actually got me craving some more murder investigation-type games.  So much so that I'm actually thinking about buying Law and Order: Criminal Intent when it comes out, and I don't even like the show!
It's got a duck bill, you moron!

I like this game a lot.  I grew up on Sherlock Holmes and Encyclopedia Brown and such.  I really only have two qualms with it.

1. This is quite personal but Mia Fey is essentially a cartoon version of my own mother.  Not occupation-wise (Mom's a psychologist) but  an uncanny resemblance to this one picture I have of Mom at that age, in a courtroom no less.  This really wouldn't be a problem if Mia wasn't the victim of a brutal murder in the second case.  Needless to say, I was a little shaken up and quite unexplainably saddened for a while.  I know, I know, it's a video game, but if any fictional thing in the world is going to affect me, it would be the murder (albeit fictional) of a woman who closely resembles my mother.  You can stop calling me a Mama's Boy now.

2. This game quite possibly has the biggest plot hole in the history of plots.  In between cases 2 and 3, Phoenix complains about not getting any cases and also not being able to pay the rent as if he might be in some financial trouble.  Considering his occupation (lawyer) I find this HARD TO BELIEVE.  Case 2 dealt with the murder of your boss, Mia Fey.  The murderer is Redd White, a CEO of a huge company who confesses on the stand as to his murder of Mia.  Needless to say, he put Phoenix's law office into quite a bit of jeopardy by killing half the staff, not to mention depriving her sister with what appears to be her only family.  I think you see where I'm going with this.  So I'm to believe Phoenix Wright is so competent that he can fight back against rock-solid evidence and win against impossible odds, but it wouldn't even cross his mind to bring a slam-dunk wrongful death lawsuit for bajillions of dollars against the company the murderer was a CEO of?  The guy even killed her to protect the company from damage.  They're all liable!  The game should have ended right there with "Phoenix Wright runs off with to squander abundant riches.  THE END."  No, I'm not thinking too much into this.  Why do you say that?

But all in all I had a lot of fun!  I know games have a lot of text, but here's a game that forces you to read it because you'll have to to perform in court.  And thankfully, this translation is fantastic.  Especially Sal Manella.  Is "internet chatroom" an official language dialect now?

This review was powerful stuff, I honestly went from not really caring about the game, to reading this review (and then a few other reviews, but still!), to placing an order for the game because I need to play this. =D

I'd get this if court stuff didn't bore me silly.

I'm sure it's fun, but I've just got too much stuff to get.  Alas.

My insane delay of playing this game has both good and bad implications. Good, I don't have to wait too long for the sequel to get some more PW goodness. Bad, I had to bump a near-ancient topic to stay relevant. In fact, I'd sya this topic needed bumping simply so people can be psyched for Justice For All! I'm so damn thrilled, I'm tempted to buy TWO copies! Just to give some sort of incentive to bring over the third!

WTF Bumpzilla?

I just read Deg's spoilers for the first time; funny stuff.  Your mom is hot.

I may be doing just that.  I own the Japanese version, and while I enjoyed it, I'm reserving final judgment until after I've seen the US version.  (The English in the Japanese version has some serious typos and seemed lacking at points, so I'm hoping Capcom has cleaned it up.)
