Logitech Speed Force Wheel
« on: December 08, 2003, 09:26:27 AM »
Does anyone have this accesory? I'm strongly thinking about getting it now that Mario Kart Double Dash and F-Zero GX is out. Have any of you played these games on it yet and what games are compatible with it? Just looking for some opinions before I make my purchase. Also, I have Burnout 2 so I know it'd be good for that, and does it have support for Crazy Taxi and Need For Spped Underground?

I got one.  I haven't tried Mario Kart yet (need time).  I enjoy it with F-Zero, but while it makes the game more "challening," the experience is more engaging to me.   Your possible enjoyment with F-zero will depend on finding a button scheme you're comfortable with, because the only practicall way of holding it is a 9o'clock-3o'clock position.  And you have to adjust angular sensitivity.  Figuring out where you want Gas and the L/R slides is the problem.

Burnout 2:  IT JUST RULES.  Button scheme, handling, force feedback feel great with it -- especially in the First-person view.  If you've got a decently sized TV and a good seating arrangement (one ideal for driving), it might make you forget about arcade racers.

But Burnout is an arcade racer. ;¬] I've been wanting one of these for awhile too. They seem to randomly sell for $30 or less at random EBs. You gotta stay on the look-out. As it is, $65 for the whole kit [with the MKDD rebate] is a little steep.

Let me clarify:  "arcade racers," the ones that you actually find in an ARCADE.

Burnout 2 does not come with a stiff, cold (or warm, depending...) seat, nor does Burnout 2 ask you to insert credits.

I think Burnout  & need for speed are considered arcade style racers, as apposed to simulation racers, like gran turismo.  Here ign calls it arcadey.  Here they say its "Arcade Driven."  That does not make it a bad game to say the least.

Here "The racing mechanics themselves are all finely tuned, as they so often are in the NFS games, kind of realistically heavy but still adhering to a flexible arcade style."  They say need for speed also has an arcade style...

The two games control perfect Imo;  being an arcade racer does not make them a bad game.

Sorry, I knew what you meant. I guess the emoticon didn't really convey that. It's a shame the Cube got shafted with a bad port of the game though. I've already played the Xbox version a lot, but this is the game I want the wheel for.

I have a review of the Speed Force up.  It is best with Burnout, and works great with Mario Kart.  I honestly don't like using it with F-Zero simply because of the game's vertical elements.

Sorry to resurrect a year old thread, but...
anyone have a 100% updated list of PAL available games that work well with this wheel?
I got one with my Gamecube and am sick of it sitting in it's box...
Any recommended games for it? I was looking at Nascar 2005 but afaik that's NTSC only (my tv plays NTSC slightly squashed and in black and white, and I'm assuming the freeloader wouldn't help any).
Thanks

Bump. C'mon! I need my racing!
Any adaptor to use this on Xbox or PS2 while retaining the force feedback?

Nope.

You should've been playing F-Zero GX and Burnout 2.

Here's the NA list. You could try PAL versions of those games, first. Otherwise just rent games to try them out.
