No. She just goes for $4000 which is almost 40% of her total. Johanna puts on her game face and awaits to see what is hiding behind this second Daily Double clue.

Uh-oh. Hearts have stopped beating. I don’t know the correct answer to this clue and it looks like Johanna might be stumped as well.

Oh, phew! She’s smiling. She knows what this is and responds “What is Grey Gardens?” Ah, that’s what it is! Wonder if living in New York helped her with that.

Johanna seems to give a bit of a cocky smirk after nailing a second Daily Double and I’m glad she’s got some swagger again.

She also makes a glance up to the scores to take in that sweet feeling of reclaiming the lead.

However, there’s still $5600 left on the board so the job isn’t over yet. Need a couple more correct responses to ensure holding on to this lead.

Sure enough. That pesky Michelle beat Johanna out on the signaling device and grabbed the lead heading into final. Johanna’s in the tricky second place and she’s clearly using all her math and science knowledge to figure out how to play this one.

The Final Jeopardy category is 1970’s Bestsellers and you can read the clue for yourself. I have to admit. This stumped me at first. Nothing jumped out at me from Silence in the Water and it got me thinking about Silence of the Lambs first. That got me thinking and wondering if Silence in the Water might be a suggestion of something with horror and the water but it could be romantic or something else. So then I switched gears and started thinking of 1970’s films. There are many times that a big bestseller will get a film adaptation. Thinking of 1970’s hit films that might have to do with Water I then quickly hit upon Jaws and that made the most sense to me and seemed like it would be the correct answer.

Oh no! Why is Johanna writing so much? Jaws is a very quick and simple word. She’s still writing as the music ends.

Alex gives further information about the answer and how the writer’s father, Robert Benchley who is a famous humorist, suggested the title “What’s That Noshing On My Leg?” Yeah, it’s got to be Jaws and Johanna’s got a look of someone regretting their answer. She’s looking down which is not signaling good vibrations to me. Jaws is confirmed the correct response after revealing the third place contestant’s response. It’s on to Johanna.

Awwww. The Hunt for Red October. I totally can get that since the sound of submarines is a factor in the novel as the various factions hunt and track the Red October while it tries to elude capture. But it was released in the 1980s! Awww. The dream of seeing Johanna return again as the returning champ is over. What did she wager?

A big gutsy wager which drops her down to third place. I think I might be expressing the same grimace at home that Johanna is displaying in the Jeopardy studio. Still, if Michelle knew it was Jaws then Johanna probably wouldn’t have been able to win.

Aarrgh! Too rub salt in the wound, Michelle did get the answer but she chickened out in her wager and went low. Had Johanna gotten the correct answer, she’d have won bigtime! This is the worst timeline.

All that’s left is the awkward handshake…

Like Ulysses Grant and Robert E. Lee or Richard Nixon and Elvis Presley, we end with two titans coming together to shake hands. It’s like man aka Alex reaching out and touching God aka Johanna as pictured in the Sistine Chapel. Wait a sec… Johanna’s got a bird tattoo on her right wrist? Man, even as she says goodbye she continues to keep surprising!

…and as she looks down at her response, one more sigh as she mutters, “Tom Clancy, you’ve screwed me over AGAIN!” Man, if there was any contestant I thought would get 1970’s Bestsellers correct, I thought Johanna would be the one to do it. She’s got the look.

So ends the ballad/sage of Johanna. Gone but not forgotten. She may not have become the Champion at Jeopardy but she's definitely still a winner. If you want to experience the thrill ride for yourself, you’ll just have to get yourselves a copy of the July 12, 2018 episode of Jeopardy aka Show #7804. If Zooey Deschanel ever wants to take being a-dork-able seriously then she should start by imitating Johanna here.

To be honest, I wasn't sure if Hot Girls of Jeopardy was the best title for this or if I should have gone with The Saga of Johanna but I thought I'd do a play off of IDK's Hot Girls of Twitch topic title and, maybe someday, there'll be another contestant worthy of mentioning in this thread. Hope the journey was thrilling for you. I have no idea how this is going to be received but I guess I'm about to find out.

Honestly, I just really liked the contestant. Sometimes there is a contestant that just captures your interest during the show and so there have been a few that, despite not winning, last on in the memories of fans. I feel like that is how I would be acting and reacting if I was on the show myself.
