Progressive Scan Questions

Hey guys. I'm about to buy a new tv (it supports up to 1080i) and I wanted to know what I needed to play my cube in progressive scan (besides the component cables). Throw me whatever other info you have and/or tips from your own experience when playing it in prog. scan so I could get my cube to look really good. Thanks alot.

only way to get progressive scan to work is use a HD cable from nintendo. the RGB cable for HD used with the currect cable just for sound. then u need a game that can use prog scan, ie. metroid prime. in the manual, it says to hold B or something like that when its starting up. it will ask u if u want to use prog scan and u select yes, this will only work if u have the HD cable and a game that supports Prog Scan.

Hey, I had one more question about prog. scan. I don't have the component cables or a prog scan tv yet, but just wanted to see what the prog scan screen (where you enable it) looked like. I held B while powering on the cube, but it just loaded up like usual (I had metroid prime in since its prog scan compatible). Does that screen only load when you have the component cables or are you guys able to get to that screen without them?
Thanks alot

P.S. The reason I am asking this question is becuase I'm about to get the component cables and wanted to see what I had to do to run the games in prog. scan.

Yes, you can only turn on progressive scan if you have a cable in the Digital A/V port.

I recently bought a Samsung ED (Enhanced Digital) w/ Progressive Scan 32"  TV... so of course I had to get the cable so I could use progressive scan with my GC

Now... my DVDs look absolutely beautiful now and sound great (Dolby Digital hookup)... the DVD player manual said to only hookup the video input you plan on using (component); not component and s-video for example... one or the other. This leads to my question...

I currently have my GC hooked up through the component cables AND the AV cables (mainly for audio, but I still have the composite video hooked up as well). Per the DVD manual, should I disconnect the composite video to achieve better visual quality? Just making sure I'm getting the best out of my investment.

Good question, one that you could answer yourself I think.  While watching the component video input unplug and replug in the AV cable see if it makes a difference.  Let me know what you find out as I am curious what the results will be.
