A major software update for the puzzle adventure title Toki Tori 2, named Toki Tori 2+, will be arriving on the Wii U eShop in Europe this week.

The update has been available for the PC version of the game since July, adding new puzzles and several enhancements to the core gameplay, including a mechanic to assist players through the early stages, an improved world map and new graphical elements to help distinguish the different sections of each area.

Existing owners of Toki Tori 2 will be able to download this update free of charge, while all new purchases will include these new features automatically. The game will also see a temporary price cut to £7.79/€8.99, down from the regular cost of £12.99/€14.99, until September 19.

Cool. Can't wait for the NA release. It's a shame they're not giving us the "make your own puzzles" mode, unless I'm wrong about that haha.

One of the best games available on Wii U.

Mixing puzzle/metroidvania genres worked wonders, i played it obsessively a for a few weeks until i found everything.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but i didn't want to create new one.

This great video explains what made Toki Tori 2 so brilliant:
It's such a huge shame that this outstanding game went completely unnoticed and what's worse it nearly bankrupted developer.

I think the problem is that many gamers don't want to "figure things out", and that is one of the key gameplay features of Toki Tori 2+. Not only do you need to figure out solutions to different puzzles, in many cases you need identify where/what the puzzle you need to solve even is.

Starting the game with all abilities readily available, with just the need to figure out where and how those powers can be applied, is a fantastic approach to a Metroidvania experience. Having all in-game tutorials and lessons occur through natural observation of your environment (along with a bit of experimentation) is a difficult design decision but was extremely well done.

For me, every puzzle solved felt incredibly rewarding. There is a fine balance between feeling like you figured something out yourself versus had the solution given to you. Toki Tori 2+ manages to consistently nudge you in the right direction without giving it's secrets away - but getting to the end requires some clever problem solving.
