Topic: Netflix on Wii U

Anyone else experiencing an occasional black screen and hard lock after launching Netflix?

This started happening after the last Netflix update, which I think was after the April Wii U system update.

I've heard of Netflix lockups, but have experienced none myself. Can you uninstall the app and re-download it?

Netflix on the wii u is great, the only downside are two things. No video previews like xbox 360, and no auto next episode

Yes, I've had this lock up. I've tried everything, nothing seems to fix it. Complaining on Miiverse included. This started for me after the April update, now it locks up 8/10 times!

First time I launched it after the most recent update it black screened and locked on me. First lock-up I've ever had with the console. The most recent update actually seems to make launching *anything* take much longer than the previous update.

Can you uninstall the app and re-download it?

I just deleted and re-downloaded Netflix and it didn't resolve the issue.  I guess we'll have to wait for the next Netflix update.

I had a weird issue where Netflix crapped the bed on my PS3. It would remember my login, would load the entire page and just hang before it got to the menu. It eventually started working again after a system update or two.

It does the same thing for me with Hulu Plus. I usually just reset the console and it starts working. But I'm sure you've tried that

Netflix stops loading at 25% and even when it does hit 100%, it just sat on the black loading screen till I hit the home button. I tried the internet channel to post about it. NWR would only load 80% if the page before it just got stuck.
Miiverse even took s long while to load just now add I was young this out on my phone, which is hooked up to the same Wi-Fi as the Wii U.

Well, the occasional black screen and hard lock after launching Netflix is a definite bug that Netflix has not patched yet.  As far as Miiverse, mine takes about 15 seconds to load to the main page and 30 seconds for the activity feed.

have you tried power cycling your router?

Many times. I ended up calling Comcast later that night and had then reset on their end.

I Haven't checked to see if the Wii U and Netflix has functioned any better since.
Another computer in the house wasn't connecting later in the night, so I believe part of the issue was on Comcast end.

My Netflix on my Wii U is not working again.

4 hard resets (pulling the plug) was required to get out of the crashed app. iwas trying to complain on Miiverse and see if anyone else had the problem, but my Miiverse was taking too long to load.

that could have something to do with it being so damn hot here that my modem is overheating, but netflix still shouldn't lock up the system.
internet browser seems to be working well enough though, so i don't know whats wrong with other internet dependent areas of Wii U system.

I remember hearing a few weird connection issues when the Wii U came out and it was often traced back to the router. Perhaps create a new connection profile on the Wii U? Temporarily set your router to DMZ mode?

Netflix worked this time. But even a sub par internet connection shouldn't make the Wii U hard lock repeatedly when you open the app.

This is the Netflix bug I've talked about. Thing is, it doesn't affect everyone, my guess is this is why they haven't patched it. My friends that have Wii U and Netflix have never experienced this, yet, for me, it takes 4-5 tries to get Netflix to work.

So, I heard that Netflix is testing out a Siri style companion for Netflix on the PS3.

Sounds like the overheating problem that the early Wiis had, which would also knock out internet.
