Nintendo announces an eShop app for mobile devices that allows you to purchase 3DS and Wii U games while away from home. The games then download to the systems when they are in sleep mode.

It's like how Xbox 360's web-based marketplace works. Or like what WiiConnect24 was supposed to be.

Oh, I hope this is so.
Nintendo already announced this was coming for 3DS, didn't they?

But the 3DS already has an eShop app...  :confused;  This would mainly be beneficial for the Wii U. Buy something with the eShop mobile app, and the content downloads to your Wii U while it's in sleep mode.

Did you even read what he said? "Mobile devices". Meaning, an iPhone or Android device. So that they can purchase a game or app on the go and have it downloaded and ready to use by then time they get home.

Yes, he understands that. Nintendo already announced that was coming for the eShop, which is currently only on the 3DS.

You will be able to shop/buy eShop games on devices other than the 3DS/Wii U.
You could probably find it somewhere in this thread if you looked hard enough.

Someone should do a link summary in this thread like was done in the rumor thread.

Sony will announce a release date for the Last Guardian and it will be for both the PS3 and Vita. Also, Journey will be ported to the Vita as well. A new Ratchet and Clank, Killzone and Gran Turismo will be announced for the Vita, too.

Or are we going with ridiculous over-the-top speculation?
This is a kytim thread. Realistic expectations and speculation have no place here.

@BnM - thanks for the rescue!

@oblivion and tendoboy: I should have been more specific: I am sure Nintendo announced that you will (someday) be able to buy eshop games through other devices by using a kind of e-shop website. You buy stuff and queue it up for download. You leave your 3DS in sleep mode and as soon as it finds a wi-fi connection, it downloads (via SpotPass!). Then when you open it up again, your bought thing is waiting for you.

I recall Iwata  saying all this stuff. Maybe it was during a Nintendo Direct? Maybe I dreamed it. I don't recall if the announcement mentioned anything about mobile-specific functionality.

I hope that something similar will be instituted for WiiU.

I'm the one that originally posted that idea. And having a mobile eShop app would mainly be beneficial for the Wii U, since the 3DS is already portable and has it's own app built in.

In other words, nothing unique or original. Killzone was announced for the Vita before the system launched, but it was only in a trailer video. (I think?)

The Last Guardian doesn't count since it's basically vaporware now. I was referring to the other games that he listed.

I would be very happy if they announced a Gran Turismo for Vita, since the PSP one cut out the reason I like that kind of game in the deep career mode.

With how long it took Polyphony Digital to make GT5 and GT PSP, I doubt we'll see a new Gran Turismo any time soon. Let's wait about 5 years and see.

Hey shingi, I haven't seen you in a while. Do you still post on GoNintendo?

And all I want for the Wii U is the following:

- personalized Mii's (like on the 3DS)
- Friend requests (the only thing keeping the 3DS from being completely amazing)
- game invites
- leaderboards and matchmaking for all online games
- OS-based voice & video chat through the Wii U controller
- Swapnote with color ink

That's it.

I'm expecting none of the following for Wii U:

Zelda
3D Mario
Donkey Kong
F-Zero
Metroid
Smash Bros

Now that I have set my Nintendo expectations super low I can be pleasantly surprised when each one of them is announced.

If a Donkey Kong game is announced, it won't be another DKC platformer. I expect Nintendo to announce a new "Mario vs DK" game for both the 3DS and Wii U, with level sharing between platforms and online.

We might get a teaser trailer for the 3DS and Wii U Smash Bros., but don't expect any major info until closer to the Wii U launch. Nintendo won't be that generous. Then again, they did completely surprise everyone with the Metroid Other M trailer at the end of their E3 2010 conference.

With the stories Neal's bringing, I figure this will be the biggest let down we have ever had as Nintendo fans.

With the stories Neal's bringing, I figure this will be the biggest let down we have ever had as Nintendo fans.

Neal's stories are about third party support being lame which is nothing new to Nintendo E3.  Nintendo's own software is what will make their E3 show like it always has and right now nobody knows what Nintendo will show except a Mario game based off last years tech demo, a new Pikmin and something from Retro.

These three things alone already guarantee this will be a better E3 then 2003 and 2008 so it's literally impossible for this to be worst E3 for Nintendo fans.
