I think the list of stories on the front page is too short, in any slightly busy time you'd have to check the archives to see everything that happened since your last visit. Making it hard to see what happened recently is the main reason I stopped reading GameSpy and IGN after their redesigns.
Your cries have been heard, and I will rectify this shortly.

Along the lines with what I said earlier, if the main page knows who I am, it could be great if I could customize it to show X number of stories from each category.

you mean to sort of iGoogle the front page?
Now that would be kinda crazy.

We've thought about it, but it's not a high priority.  Changing the number of stories would be easy though, once I activate the rest of the user features.

I'm not a big fan of how the most current news/reviews/etc. story disappears when you hover your mouse over another story in the same section.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Game ownership / Friend codes database
I like both of these ideas. I've got a couple of suggestions on how to spice them up, if it isn't difficult. One is a user rating of games, which could appear next to each game on the collection page. A simple 1-10 rating scale will suffice, no decimals needed. Another is to have user friend codes listed next to any applicable games on the collection page.

When you are doing filtering, for instance in reviews, I think it would be better if letters (for filtering by name) that have no results under your current filtering settings should be grayed out and not clickable.  It might also be good if filters for which there are no results given your other filters were also grayed out and not selectable.  People shouldn't have to see the "No results found. Please make another selection." message, the website could be set up to be smart enough to not waste peoples' time (unless you are doing a search, of course).

I just want to say I love that the talkback is now posted below the articles.  Before I really never saw much of a point of going to talk back because it brought me to forum thread and there are plenty of others.  Now the articles and the discussion becomes front an center to everybody visiting the site.  It will also encourage more visitors to post and more forum goers to visit the front page.

Would it be possible to allow people to customize their front page? It seems very strange to me to have the navigation bar on the right side of the page instead of the left.

What navigation bar?  There are only navigation bars at the top and bottom.

I guess it isn't technically a navigation bar, per se. The thing that shows upcoming releases, press releases, Twitters, and videos.

Is this the final version of the chat system? While I'm real glad to see its not a stupid java based client, it is still hidden up in a corner and not implemented well for making games.

Okay, but to really make it good I think you should give forum members the option of enabling the Chat Room to be render at the top of the forum page, for every page. So we can sort of see it as a feed. Games will be set-up much faster, and use of the chat room will actually happen, because people will read whatever random crap is going on in the chat as they are surfing the forums regularly.

If you wanna really go crazy (this doesn't use the chat), just let forumers register events that pop up as rows at the top of the forum in a distracting color. Like:

"Conduit @ 5:15 with Maxi (Wii Num: 80085) Click here to rsvp."

etc.

Offer cool features to make people use your site over others...

It would be nice if on the reviews page, where you can set various options to sort out the reviews, there were a way to differentiate between retail Wii games and WiiWare games.
