Evolution World or Skies of Arcadia?

Well, now that I finally picked up a gamecube, I'm looking for a fun RPG. There don't seem to be many that I've run across yet, except for these two - any thoughts on them? (or other RPGs, if available.) If it helps, my favorite role playing games are Sega's Phantasy Star series, the Fallout series for the PC, and Nintendo's Dragon Warrior series + earthbound. Thanks!

I would go with Skies of Arcadia.

well i will give you the best answer i can- buy skies of arcadia
evolution worlds is alright but has no real story- the battle system it has is good, but the story just isnt that great
skies is the best rpg on the gc thus far
it has a great story, good characters, good battle system, and even good music
i love it and it is one of my favorite rpgs
skies also swiches up the action a little by offering ship battles which are very fun
they are the usual turnbased with a strategic twist- very fun
basically i think it is one sided on which game you should get
evolution worlds is really for beginner rpg gamers
i highly recommend skies over many rpgs, including evolution
if you can get skies, you will not be dissappointed
i call the big one bitey.

Skies of Arcadia by far. Evolution Worlds is an average RPG at best. Skies is from the creators of Phantasy Star and while its a different type of game than Phantasy Star is a stellar game nontheless. Skies of Arcadia was the best RPG on Dreamcast and its the best one on GC.

Evolution Worlds isn't that bad.  Its considered terrible because of the "RPG Super Gamers" created by Square's Final Fantasy games.  These are the people that have played many-a-RPG and have standards to compare to.  If you enjoy the occasional RPG, you'll enjoy Evolution Worlds.  But if you're hardcore into RPGs, don't bother.  To answer your question, get Skies of Arcadia.  Skies of Arcadia is amazing.

SoA easily- not only is it a hundred times better than Evolution Worlds could ever hope to be, it's easily on of the best RPG's I've ever played.

Also, SoA was made by the creators of Shinobi- Overworks- not Phantasy Star- Sonic Team.

Uh... no. Overworks is composed of the original Phantasy Star team. We are referring to Phantasy Star 1-4, not Phantasy Star Online, which is the Sonic Team game. Yuji Naka was the lead programmer for the old Phantasy Stars I believe, but that was pretty much the extent. Reiko Konada is also the head producer for Overworks, and she's the creator of the Phantasy Star series.

If you pick up Evolution World I'll feel sorry for you.  Skies of Arcadia has some great music and storyline that would be a crime to miss.  I know that Grey Ninja is still looking for that game(I think) and wants it badly.  Pick it up while you have the chance.  I think I'm going to go get that game sometime soon too.

Yep.  Grey Ninja is still looking for the game.    He can't afford the game right now, but he still wants to play it and own it.

I have Evolution Worlds.  I played it for a while, but it's been on the back burner since Zelda came out.  I wouldn't say it's bad, but it hasn't exactly "pulled me in".  It does have surprisingly good voice acting.

Can't comment on Skies of Arcadia.  Is it really so hard to find?  I think the EB near my work has it.  They have the box on display, at any rate.  I was going to wait until I finish the games I have before buying it, but if it's that hard to find I might have to snag it Monday on the old lunch break.

Like everyone else already said, get Skies of Arcadia.  The only way I can suggest Evolution Worlds is if you're really into dungeon crawlers.  SoA:L is the superior game.

Actually, the new Zelda feels a lot like Skies of Arcadia when you start playing it.    That's a good thing.  Playing Zelda for a while really made me want to play Skies of Arcadia some more.  I rented Skies of Arcadia again shortly after, and did a lot of the boring stuff people told me I would hate.  I wasn't enjoying it as much as the last time I rented it, but something happened right before I took the game back to the store that made me fall in love with the game all over again.

skies of arcadia without a doubt.. don't even consider evolution worlds... but, i would also suggest baldur's gate: dark alliance .. it's a hack and slash rpg, but it has a strong story, and is actually really fun whether you play it alone or with a friend... reviews have knocked it for having a crappy framerate, but i didn't really notice anything horrible when i played through it...

Try Phantasy Star Online Episodes I and II. It's really had to find, but if you don't find it, there's always eBay. I looked for it about 2 or 3 weeks after its release and found the last one in my entire MALL (yes, I went to every store that sold video games and I found the last copy at the last store I'd visit, Target). When you say you like the Phantasy Star series, I assume you mean 1-4. Nonetheless, give this a try. I love it, and it's great to play a little while, then put it away to beat another game, then when you've beaten that game, play more PSO. The online function really makes it great to play forever.
Second I'd suggest Skies of Arcadia. I personally have not played it (I'm getting it for my birthday in one month), but both my best friend and my cousin says that it's great.
The other RPGs for GameCube that I know of are Evolution Worlds, Boulder's Gate, and Rune (known as Lost Kingdom in the US, I think). I wouldn't really recommend any of them.
Check out the games I own!

Currently Playing:
1) Final Fantasy VIII - PSX

Avoid Lost Kingdoms!  That is, unless you like incredibly crappy Card/Action/RPGs.

Yeah but Lost Kingdom two is coming out, and hopefully it will be better.  I heard that the first one was okay, just not mind blowing.

I liked Lost Kingdoms.  It was addictive if nothing else.  I think that a lot of RPG players went into it expecting something that it wasn't though.  I just liked it because it was just good fun.  I didn't buy the game as it was too short, and I didn't have the money, but I rented it about 5 times.

I would get Skies if I were you, you sound considerably more interested into it then Ruby or Saphire.
