It's not the first time it's happened. It happened yesterday with the North American releases (where the Mr. Driller DSiWare games is 300 points cheaper than its Japanese price). Maybe Nintendo wanted to apologize to Japanese games for releasing the game 13 months after it came out in North America?

I've always read it as a sign of how poorly the game did in other regions. Plaatchen was 500 points cheaper in NA than in PAL.

Apparently Nintendo of Europe sent out their PR saying the games were coming out this week, then a few hours later changed their minds and pushed them back to April 23.

If there are any Australian posters on the board, could you lt me know which European VC/WW/DSW games are not available in Australia? It's pretty hard to actually find that info.

I wish the WiiWare demos were like that. Why take down a WiiWare demo after a couple of months, and at the same time keep up a demo for a 3 year-old DS game?

To be fair those WiiWare demos were a test run for the idea overall but I think it was a massive success (sales for the demoed titles definitely went up though maybe the sales for other titles went down?) and they really should bring them back.

I don't understand the logic behind making the demos available for a limited time. Does it cost anything to keep them up for download?

I think it does cost money to host the demo on their servers, but I doubt the costs are that high. I also think that they would help convince more people to buy the games. They did say it was just a trial though, so maybe they will roll out a more extensive demo system in the future?

Maybe it was because Nintendo didn't want the demos up that long? I know people who got the World of Goo demo and played it to death but never bought the full game. So by giving them a tasted and then placing a time limit on it would possibly do two things: make people who would 'try it eventually' try it sooner and also pulling the demo after a bit could leave people wanting more and thus getting the full version.

The demos can still be played if they're still in the Wii memory/SD card, so I don't know if having timed demos would really prevent people from only playing the demo and never buying the game.

The sales of the demoed games definitely went up, what I think may have happened is that they hurt the sales of the games without demos.

Well, they can't make TOO many demos, or else they'll end up in a situation like what you described in your last post: people will just play the free demos and not buy games. I downloaded all of the previous demos (except World of Goo since I have it) but didn't buy the games. Though to be fair, I had no prior interest in the games, so it wasn't really a lost sale in my case.
