It was delayed for the background song which feature a couple expressions from the Quaran or something like that. They don't want to offend the muslim community. ::rolls eyes::

Considering LBP is very "Cartoonish" it was probably a smart move, as absurd as it really is to recall all of the discs this late in the game.

Damn shame.

What if those expressions were sung in another language, could they protest? I think not, but the right to choice is once again invalidated by nonsense. If it is that offensive than turn your back away, and don't buy the product, or at least LBP could be shipped as originally intended with the offer of a patch to remove such offense for those that wish not hear such offense. See I just gave a good solution that would hopefully make everyone happy.
Whatever happened to liberty, and responsibility of choice *sigh*.

Here's a portion of the Media Molecule reaction:

We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks. They assure us that they are doing everything in their power to get things straightened out as fast as possible, and will announce dates soon.

Someone, please, show me one person who paid upwards of $400 for a PS3 and intends to buy a game centered around online connectivity with NO online access.

Absurd, just absurd.

I don't blame them one bit.  That's a real touchy subject, and there's just no need for Sony to even go there.

[Puts on Moderator Cap]: And there's no need for this thread to go there either, BTW.

I do wonder though what brought this on. I bet it was as ridiculous as the decision. It is just like when nintendo removed the chants from OOT. Oh well, if Sony keeps on doing this they will continue to get stomped in NA and even Japan now (surprisingly) so they can keep on going!

Anyway on the bright side at least I can focus on Fable II and co next week!

I guess some players that frequent an islamic gaming board or something brought it to MM's attention or something.  And in their original letter they were reasonable enough to request a patch for the already shipped games and for that patch to be included all future printing of the game...

Who knows how that changed into a massive recall.

Oct 27th is a VERY ambitious date to have a new copy created, stamped, packaged, and shipped.  My guess, is they started working on this a couple weeks ago if we really get it just a week later.

Now that I have the PS Eye w/ no LBP, is there anything on the PSN worth buying for it?  Looks like there's a few simple programs for just a few bux.

Burnout Paradise uses it in a token manner.  Eye of Judgement is its real showpiece, but that game - while quite good - is such a niche title that I can't recommend it to anyone but pre-existing trading card game nerds.

You may want to check out some reviews of the PSN titles.

Well, is every PS3 owner hardcore?

LBP is getting marketted a lot, I could imagine quite a few non-online PS3 owners to buy the thing.

And hell, I bet they just wanted to avoid all that media crap that happened after that danish newspaper cartoon.

Well the thing is not everyone has access to broadband internet and thus has to play offline even in America. So in a way it is actually a smart thing to do. Sony is just doing this to protect their asses since we all know how many times Nintendo Sony and MS got sued over stupid things.

While playing your latest game, "LittleBigPlanet" in the first level of the third world in the game (titled "Swinging Safari":smileywink:, I have noticed something strange in the lyrics of the music track of the level. When I listened carefully, I was surprised to hear some very familiar Arabic words from the Quran. You can listen to part of the track here:

mt14.quickshareit.com/share/p...lip22503c0.wav

The words are:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

I think this story is really interesting because it's an issue that Western game companies really wouldn't even consider during development.  I'm sure somebody said, "Wow, that track sounds really cool, I like the Arabic flavor...let's put it in!"  Not even imagining that such a hubbub would occur.  It's not too bad for Sony though, because 1) People will still buy the game in droves; 2) If anything it gives LBP even more publicity than it's already received; and 3) Now Sony's "sensitivity" makes them look like the good guys.

Apparently it is November 7th for Australia according to EB games. I kind of doubt this considering that the 7th is a Friday and we usually get our games on Thursdays. I was hoping to have it this week so it wouldn't be competing with exams, oh well.

Looks like Walmarts all over are still selling it today.  I'd jump on it but I already have a pre order and gift card at Best Buy:

SO PISSED!

Just went there.  They were literally pulling the game from the shelf as I got there.  I fed them some BS, saying I called this morning and was told they were selling it, only to drive all the way out on my lunch to get a copy and get told that.  They got a manager for me... The manager agreed to sell me a copy, only to have the register not allow it...

So it's official, you can't get it at Wal-Mart anymore and I missed the boat...

Uncle Bob, you didn't happen to buy any copies to sell to your fellow forum members did you? =P

Yeah that really sucks considering I know how far Pale had to drive (and the traffic he had to brave) to get to that Walmart. Lame dude, I was going to stop at Walmart after work but I may as well not bother at this point.

Sony loves to censor. Sony just got burned by the same faith that they were trying to not disrespect.

Oh, and by the way I listened to this song that is supposed to be removed... I didn't like it, and I'm glad it is being removed. It's just not within my taste, that's all.
