I like that they're (presumably) going with the Zelda approach to cut-scenes, without voice-overs. I always thought it was more powerful storytelling, myself.

I hate these trailers. They're so awesome but horrendously short. I wish it would just keep going. *sigh* Oh well. *hits play (again)*

What I want to know is, if Palutena is so great, why doesn't she just fight herself?

Not to open this debate up again, but the Zelda style cut-scenes only really work if there isn't any (or contains very little) dialog. I barely like cut-scenes to begin with, but I absolutely hate reading through them. The Zelda series has gotten worse and worse over the years by making cut-scenes longer and wordier. If cut-scenes absolutely need to be there, I prefer voice-acting, but I still prefer shorter cut-scenes with or without voice acting since they can still be effective under the right direction and watching the game is kept to a minimum.

In any case, I like the idea of no voice-acting beyond the little gasps and such we've heard so far.  The cut-scenes are short and to the point.

Diddy's Specials are up. Not much we haven't already heard before, but a couple interesting pieces. I think that being able to hold down the button to rapid fire is nicely balanced by the gun blowing up if you hold it down too long.

you hold it down to boost the speed (and I'm guessing also range) of a single shot, not to increase the rate of fire.  Think Link's bow in SSBM.

About names:

"We’re also considering allowing you to save your name to the memory in your Wii Remote so you can bring your settings with you to your friend’s house...

But if we can’t make that happen, I apologize. "

Wii developers need to start using the SD card for this stuff.

How much more expensive would it have been for them to put a 1MB flash memory chip in the Wiimote?

I loved how the barrels end up becoming a random projectile if he's hit.  Sakurai makes me laugh again.

Sakurai's ramblings never cease to amuse me...

"For some reason, Diddy has a weapon made of wood. Is that jungle technology?"

"Also, if the shell breaks and a peanut pops out, you can apparently eat the peanut."

"You recover a little damage when you eat it. Is this for real?"

Priceless.

I like how they made it so that the gun explodes if you charge for too long. That should prevent players from abusing it.

I hope this doesn't happen with other charge attacks. Well, I really hope it doesn't apply to Samus. Also, do the barrels become an item like Wario's bike? That's the feeling that I got.

Aren't there just TOO many extra effects on Diddy alone?

"You can charge the gun.  BY THE WAY, it could blow up in your face if you charge too long."
"You may get a peanut when the shell breaks.  BY THE WAY, you can eat that to restore some health."
"You can fly up with the barrel jetpack.  BY THE WAY, it can fly off and blow up."

Shouldn't they save the extra effects for some of the other characters?  I don't remember that much for anybody, ever.

He can also charge the jetpack as well.

Keep in mind that Link now uses the Gale Boomerang, which grants that move a new effect and he can charge his Spin Attack. Not to mention the reworking of tether moves, Wario materializing a Motocycle, and the unflinching behavior that Ike exhibits while he has thrown his sword during Aether.

Another thing to remember is that we only know about a small amount of the special moves in this game, and that we do not even know very much about the ones that have been revealed.

Well, it sounds like it "charges" in the same manner that Fox's Up+B Foxfire move does...

From the site: If you charge this up before using it, your jump power increases.

To me that makes it sound like a choice.

So if you don't charge it your jump power doesn't increase?  That makes it sound absolutely useless if it isn't charged... ='D

Why all the harshness Dasmos?

You could have just said "Who says they're not?", and it would have gotten the same message across without the mean little quip at the end... OH MY GOD I am turning into my parents.
