WOW, this completely changes how I look at who could be a character now, my mind is effing blown (in a good way).

So what is his FSA, does he have three different ones depending on who is out at the time or what?

Man, I really want to know how this character plays like.

From the shots, it looks like when he actually summons them... he pretty much leaves the "hittable" range of the stage. So my question is, does he work kind of like Shiek/Zelda, where you can switch between the three and play whichever you are in the mode for? If so, being able to play Charizard and Ivysaur would be awesome.

Also, it's great to see another diverse fighter added to the roster.

EDIT: On a side note, is it just me, or does Charizard look fantastic?

I called it!  Ice Climbers!

Or not.

That's ok, I support unique play-styles, and this one seems awesome.  If only that were a Wartortle, though, then it would be even better!

Looks like down+B cycles to the next one and you control the pokeman on screen at the time, but the trainer isn't hittable.

This is, by far, the most unique character to date, and a far better representative for the franchise.

Now that is a GREAT question. I actually hope he summons a different Pokémon just for his Final Smash. Something massive (Gyarados, Tyranitar, etc). The potential just with what it could be is pretty exciting, though.

It says that you switch them out in a cycle, so Squirtle then Ivysaur then Charizard then Squirtle again.

And yes, it does. They did a good job combining the Ken Sugimori and anime designs, while making them a bit more "fierce" to fit the fighting genre.

Oh crap, I totally missed that part of the update. Was only looking at the main character bio.

EDIT:

That sounds great. This character has really suddenly jumped up to be the one I'm most interested in playing from what has been shown.

My hat is off to them for getting me even more excited than I already was for this game.

Since you mentioned it, I wonder if the other Pokemon characters like Mewtwo, Jigglypuff and Pichu got the ax. I mean, I could see them keeping Mewtwo just so Pokemon can have a villain in the roster, but Pichu and Jigglypuff are now taking up space, especially since we have three Pokemon under one character space.

Also what's crazy is the fact that the Pokemon have a new "stamina" stat.

This is a really amazing update! I'm so glad to see they are thinking outside the box with the new characters.

Pichu is most likely gone, if I had to guess. Jiggly I expect to see back, simply as it was stated before that all of the original characters would return... and I imagine that would include the secret characters. As for Mewtwo, he hasn't really been in the spotlight for awhile, but he was always a very solo character anyway so as long as they didn't cycle him out for someone new (Deoxys would have been my guess, if they were going to, but he is an assist trophy) I could very much see him coming back.

I imagine that's exactly the case, at least with Pichu. I'd say Jigglypuff is more likely to stay if one gets the ax, however, since Mewtwo wasn't as popular in Melee (tho they could always fix that) and Jigglypuff is from the N64 game, and I think they're keeping most if not all of those.

Jigglypuff was an original character, so I assume she's safe. But I think the purpose of the trainer to let more pokemon be in the game without those taking up half the characters. I mean, we might see a female trainer (although the gender of this one wasn't mentioned even though it's apparent) with the Johto set. He also provides a completely new and unique character, so he doesn't have to be a replacer.

Someone, hire this man, stat! That's definitely a "clone" I would love to see in the game.

EDIT: Also, as a complete side remark, I'm happy to see some "older" characters from a franchise make it into the game. Looking at the rest of the cast, most of them dip into their respective series' most recent incarnations, but I'm glad to see they aren't afraid of choosing some classics from a continuing franchise.

OK with the Pokemon Trainer, that makes it  7 new characters to be featured Brawl with 13 returning characters (as far as we know), making for a total of 20 selectable characters.

Let's see how far it will grow...

She wouldn't be a clone if she had a different set. Sure, she would play the "same," but each pokemon would control different.

I assume that is with counting Shiek as a separate character, since Samus is being counted twice?

That's why I put clone in quotes. Again, it sounds like a awesome idea to me, even if it would be repeating the concept of another character, although, like you said, with different results.

This excites me to no end.  And yes, the moment someone mentioned Final Smash, I started thinking of the amazing possibilities.  I would love it if it was a different rare pokemon each time the Final Smash was done.  So it would be random on who the trainer would actually call out to do the final smash.  That in and of itself would throw a huge wrench into the system and make it so no only are more pokeball pokemon coming out, but they can do a lot more this was as well.

How many more weeks until December 3rd now?  Or will the updates end on November 22nd, when it's released in Japan?  I'm wondering how many more update days there are and if we will start seeing an increase in the amount of updates each day get bumped up so as to be able to get more of this game known.

Yep, since in the official site they count ZS Samus as a separate character and in Melee Sheik was considered a separate character even if he/she was not selectable.

I think that the female trainer may show up as a costume, along with "Blue". That is what I would like anyway.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but when you think about it, this is only a modification of Zelda/Sheiks playstyle, not a slight one, but one nonetheless.

Back on the topic of FSAs, I think that they'll each have their own. I just wonder if you can transfer the FSA between the pokemon. Like, if you can use Squirtle to get the Smash ball and use Charizard's FSA. Speaking of those, what could they be? Hydro Pump, Solarbeam and Fire Blast seem probable.
