So who got a Wii for Christmas!?
« on: December 25, 2006, 02:23:45 AM »
I DID!!! OMG...IT'S UPDATING NOW...WAITING...FOR UPDATES...

Man, it's so pretty My mother is a genius, she somehow managed to get one (used my two aunts in two different towns to find one, and one got the LAST one!). I got TP with it, but have just played Sports so far, and am updating now so I can download the browser and do weather and later today I'll buy a VC game (got a classic controller too). It's so awesome! I was totally shocked as I didn't figure she had a shot at getting one. I hope some others here were as lucky!

Congrats man.  Nothing beats the feeling of opening up your wii box and hooking it up for its first time, along with the first update.  Glad to hear you got it on the net without hassle, unlike me and many others.  Enjoy VC it has kept me entertained hours after beating zelda.

I got mine a week before that since it's too expensive to be a christmas present, I got Wii Play, a nunchuk and a classic controller for christmas.

Yeah I guess Nintendo didn't want any non-gamer competition for Wario Ware. I really want Wii Play too...

I pre-ordered my Wii back in October. That is where I got the real "I got a Wii!" feeling. I was so excited once they counted us off at GameStop. Anyway, congrats on your Wii Get.
Thanks for listening.

I'm all set up and LOVING It. Family gathering went very well. My sister and brother in law didn't play (they refused, but my sister loathes video games due to childhood trauma and my brother in law doesn't like being the center of attention, so that's fine). But my 54 year old mother and a 30-something friend of the family who came to dinner played bowling a throughout the day. They really liked it!

I haven't dived into Zelda yet, that'll be later tonight. I did get Bomberman, though, and enjoy about half an hour of it. I'll play more later. I like the classic controller!

Pap should be in here to lambast the (then) PGC staff about their Wii availability predictions...

Yeah that is my mistake. I assumed that the Reggie t-shirt photo was one that he took himself. Looking back, the URL has a date of November 19th (and I think it was used on these forums a while back). Still, someone was busy with seven games.
Thanks for listening.

I got my Wii on my third day of Christmas, S_B being the gorilla that gives presents to the good little boys and girls after the holidays!

In all seriousness, S_B was the one that braved the cold sunday morning trying to get Wiis for me and his co-worker and I can't thank him ENOUGH. : _ )

Standing in the cold for hours... I know I'd have been disappointed had I done that. I think I used my Gamecube more than the Wii since I bought the Wii.

Of course you have played the Wii more than the GC. The GC has been out for 5 years, the Wii has been out for 3 months. Its very hard to top the playing hours you put on the GC for five years on the Wii :p .

But seriously, if you are saying that because you haven't played a game since launch and thus feel 'disappointed", chill. The system was just released and the games will be released. Give the system time!

Wow.  It's more than a month after Christmas, and I still don't have a Wii.  And to think I was hoping to get one on launch day.  It is to laugh!

Oh wait, I thought this thread was titled the more inclusive "So who WANTED a Wii for Christmas!?"

That's why I said "since I got the Wii".

Yes but I'd have felt stupid had I gone to great length to get the system early with not many games available until months later.

So who got a Wii for walking into GameStop?

Gamestop? Are you nuts? You walk into stores that don't have everyone and their mother standing in front of them. Department stores are good, Gamestop is the worst idea you can have.
