My random question:
Can I buy the Zelda for Wii and still choose to use the gamecube controller?

Not that i'd want to, but I like to know I have options.

No, you can't. Wii games only work with Wii controllers.

Last I read, you can connect any USB device, it will "light up", but will not get a response from the Wii.

Which makes me think, did Nintendo implement the USB JUST for the USB router or are they actually planning to make good use of it.

They update when a controller which contains the Mii is connected, but I've yet to receive an updated version of Pale's Mii with a smiling mouth.

A friend did send me a Mii directly that I already had and the new one replaced the old one already in my plaza.

My brother in law updated his Miis and sent them to me. I got a message saying that they were updated and deleting the old ones. I think it was because he resent them to me though... not sure if you just update your mii and don't send it to your buddies if it will update or not.

Whats DVD? Nintendo never heard of such a thing

(seriously the answer is likely no cuz Nintenod is doing an update latter on)

Did anyone else have Mii's on their Wii when they first got it?

I have one that says skin and another one that says Lil' D.  I think somebody at the store I bought it at played it in the backroom or something since it has a message board post that says someone played a game I don't have the same day I bought it.  All the contollers were still packaged tightly but it is possible someone took out the console.  It would explain why Wal-mart miraculously had one Wii on Tuesday night and I was able to get it.

OK so I havea  question. Didnt they say back at E3 when they unvailed the Wii it was going to hook up to your monitor or something like that? I can't rememebr if Nintendo was gonan do that or if it was Sony who said it. Anyone else know this?

I didn't look at my Wii that closely so if it is true you can hook it up to a monitor then I cant figure out hwo to do it and the manual didnt say anythign about it.

I have a question about the firmware: is it possible to know what version is installed on the console? (via a menu or something)
I'm still freaking out about the whole firmware update bricking the system and I'm not so sure I want to go online with mine, since it's imported from the US to Europe, I couldn't really send it back to Nintendo if it bricked.

I had the firmware problem, and when I called Nintendo about it, he said it was likely because when I downloaded the first update the internet connection was likely interrupted for a split second at a critical time.  When I got my new one, I didn't even had to download anything.  My advice to you would be to try to connect to the internet as soon as possible because if by a small chance your system does mess up, you cannot transfer your old saves from system to system, trust me I tried for a long time, and I guarantee you will eventually want your system on the internet.  Hope this helps.

Go to the Wii settings menu (the one that lists options for sound, screen, sensor bar, parental controls, etc.). I believe it is in the upper right.

Thanks for listening.

I've only scanned through this thread.  But I would really love it if the blue light would turn on when you are at then Channels and there is a disc already in the drive.  I've actually tried to insert a disc with one already in their multiple times.

Wish we could use classic controllers and the built-in flash memory for Gamecube games/GC saves.  I don't like having those flaps open.  Looks ugly and collects dust.

Why don't you just look at the disc channel and see if there's a game in there or not?

Here's a random question I haven't seen answered (and have no way of answering myself because none of my friends have a Wii yet).

Do Wii Sports points travel/update with your Mii from Wii to Wii?  For example, if I have 1,000 points in Bowling and then I send my Mii to a friend's Mii, does my Mii on his Wii have the same score?  More importantly, if I go over there to bowl and earn some points on my record does my Mii have the points on my Wii when I get home?

My guess to this is no.  So here's a follow up question.

Could I send myself my own Mii from my friend's Wii to replace my Mii and update my Mii's record (assuming records transfer with Miis).

This is a confusing question; did anyone understand a word I just said?

No, your Mii's points are tracked on the specific Wii: they don't travel with your Mii.

Smash_Bro is right - this is why the game tells you that if you delete the Mii off the console you will lose your stats. Miis are Miis only, not stat trackers; I've moved my Mii to many different Wiis now and have had no stats transfer and none of the stats on my Wii affected either. (This is partly due to the fact that you cannot copy Miis from Remote to Wii, you can only move them. I don't think I ever bothered to move a Mii back from a friend's Wii to my Wii, too much effort.)

Actually, I don't think this is as big of a problem.  My friend tried to update the Wii with the new Wii Shop firmware and had to turn off his Wii mid upgrade and had no problems.

Also, several times I had to hard shutdown my Wii trying to connect to the internet and had no problems.

More likely franky005 had one of the Wiis that had initial problems out of the box.  Just my theory.
