Well, anymore non-games this year and Ian and company would go off the deep end about how Nintendo is punishing its loyal fans. Not like they aren't already, but you get the picture.

Around the holidays Americans get fat then come New Years they all make those resolutions to get in shape. That's why gyms get so many new members at the start of the year. If Nintendo releases Wii Fit in the first quarter it can capitalize on this phenomenon [...]
As much as the "intarwebz" like to proclaim Nintendo idiots without a clue... Nintendo is not stupid. And I could totally see this as their US strategy for Wii Fit.

The Wii has sold over one million consoles in the UK

Quote

The Nintendo Wii has become the fastest-selling games console in UK history, with more than one million consoles sold since it was released in December, latest figures show.

The Wii passed the milestone just 38 weeks after going on sale, 11 weeks faster than the PlayStation 2 took to reach this target, and 22 weeks faster than the Xbox 360, according to Chart Track, an independent sales tracking company for the gaming industry.

David Yarnton, general manager of Nintendo UK said: "The non-stop demand for Wii, even in the traditionally slow sales period for video games in the UK, is clearly behind this record-breaking achievement."

This game of Risk® is almost over, with only a few territories left to conquer.

Wii has sold more in 9 months then the Cube did in 4 and a half years.

Releasing good titles in an efficient timeframe had nothing to do with that success.

Exactly, it's all about image.  The GC was see as a little kids toy.  The Wii is seen as fun for the whole family including grandma and since it still sells out, that makes it seem cool to the teenage image conscious kids.

Find the coolmakers.

Everyone thought the coolmakers were the disheveled gamers who spent obscene amounts of money on things they only did with the door locked and the lights off.

Turns out they weren't the coolmakers. Their MOMS were.

Geez, only 100k DS lite sold this week? Is the fad coming to a screeching halt? Guess that means Sony might have more then 2 months remaining to call the PS2 the top selling video game system in Japan.

Maybe the PS2 could hang on till Thanksgiving!

I can't find the post, but there was just some Japanese holiday 2 weeks or so ago and thats why the last two MC charts have come out so close together. Look back at the last one, it is two weeks combined cause the number weren't released during the holiday week. If I remember right Bill posted what the holiday was first and then I had mentioned it a few post after him.
