"Well some of us did not have a PS2 or Xbox when the games originally came out, and while the wanting of those games to be ported may be a selfish want, you not wanting the ports is just as selfish."
I don't have a PS2 or Xbox either BUT if I want one I'll buy one. A PS2 is much cheaper than a Wii and has way more games. I don't have to hope for PS2 games I want to be ported to it because they're already on the console. I can play every PS2 game instead of just some.
I bought the Wii for Wii games. That's what you're supposed to buy a console for - the games that are made for the console. I'm not being selfish, I'm being a smart consumer. I paid a higher price for a Wii than I would have for a PS2 or Xbox (and Gamecube in some cases). So I expect more exclusive Wii content to justify that purchase.
Now if we got ports plus new exclusives then GREAT! There's nothing wrong with that. But right now we're getting a lot of ports INSTEAD of new exclusives and that's crap. The "instead" is what I'm against and don't want anyone to encourage, not the mere existence of ports. If we can get as many games available on the Wii as possible that would awesome. But the Wii has to be more than a retro machine.
