That's fair.

I want to see multiplayer so polished and full of depth that never will anyone say, "Was this game rushed?". I don't want to see clones, and I don't want to see the same 3-5 characters winning every tournament.

I want a set of events that will go through the different systems and do graphics there way and only let you use characters that were around then.

I am beginning to think it would be cool for this Smash Brothers to go completely 3D.  I think with the controller it could easily be done in a way that can still allow for great multiplayer action.

Spak-Spang:  I don't know about it being in 3D I really thought that the Pseudo 2D they used was good for the game they had developed.  Also with four people it was getting hard enough to see what was going on.  Even with a good TV.  I just don't think the cons are worth the pros.

Ceric:  Your probably right.  Then maybe for a different fighting game.  I just think the controller lends to really cool 3D fighting because you can use the 3D space recognition to attack literally in any direction.  That is an awesome first.

Yeah I'm with you there.  I don't think it be a good fit for Smash but if they want to make a less hectic fighter thats 3D for the Wii then I'll definitely give it a look.

great ideas guys, especially spak with the items and pikachu evolving thing; i'd love to see that.
even a few smaller things would make me happy; for instance i never liked the food items in Mellee, they felt really out of place. they should just have items from the games themselves instead of those 'real world' items. they should be themed.
a mushroom from mario wouldnt work becuase they already have those, but say a small heart from the LoZ to take 5% off your damage counter. the different energy capsules from metriod, a hamburger DX from EB, things like that. that way you can keep the Nintendo-verse feel without breaking it because you see rice balls and ice cream cones on the battle field. each item would take off more damge from your mete, the heart container being the ultimate...that is unless there was a 1-up mushroom (stock matches only) that appeared VERY rarely and would add 1 more life to your character. and you thought scrambling for the heart container and super star were crazy...

a more interactive EB level would be cool too. fourside kinda blew in Mellee, they should of had Cute lil UFO's attacking you randomly. they wouldnt be very strong but they could shoot down a beam that would stun you in place for a second, giving another player an advantage to SMASH you off the stage. or Crested Bookas breathing fire on you or something.
a new metroid stage could have space pirate attacks, or random releases of metroids. if you don't destroy it they get bigger with the energy syphoned from each character. i like stages like that, with lots of interaction. i just dont want to see ALL stages like that. sometimes you just need a plain level (final destination) to lay the smack down on your mofo friends

Easycure:  I love your 1Up Idea for stock battles.  That would be great.

The levels to me need tons of interaction, but not tons of chaos.

The scrolling levels, although cool, really made battles more frustrating than fun.  Instead of going that direction so much...have characters, creatures, items, themed events that fit the level work.  Also more changing levels like the Pokemon level could be cool.

Yoshi's Story Book level, should have pages that turn and then the Level Pops Up like a Children's book.  Each Page could represent a different level or different theme from the game.

I want clones to be more different, but I still liked clones.  If I was really good with one set of characters it let me do team stuff with ease.

One clone I'd like is Oni Link (from Majora's Mask).  Oni Link was simply awesome, but not usable for enough time.

I'd like more unique challenges ("defeat these 300 guys").  Something like "defeat Giant's Mask Link."  A huge level that is unique in the game.

More interactive environments.  Big Blue was a pain, but it was also cool.

Pitt.  Sweet lord give us Pitt.  Think about it, if they DO decide to make a Kid Icarus game, Pitt could reintroduce the series to new players.

More battle types- there were a lot before, but more can't hurt.

Online OFFICIAL - tournaments.  They had a few tournaments for Melee, but I don't live near any of the sites.  Take a page from XBox-Live and give us online tournaments (with prizes).

Oni Link, Could be used as a very Heavy Fighter Link.  He could lose some of his items, but gain more Sword techniques...and even use the Sword blast for his projectiles.

I must say Oni Link was cool, but I can't see having 3 Links...only 2.

Cel-Link and Regular Link.

Oni Link would be a great Skin for Regular Link though.

Official tournaments is a must, and Nintendo has already ventured towards this with Mario Golf's tournaments, so I think that is a given.

one of my first post on this thread was about having either dark/shadow link or oni link and having them as a beefed up fighter. i wouldnt mind seeing a younger link go byebye but only if they made the 'adult' link a little lighter so you can really see the difference between the two. if they used the TP link, it would make sense because he's a rancher and definately lean and cut, unlike OoT link that was a chubby forest child who only slimmed out at 17 because he was basically hibernating for 7 years....what Rauru did to him in the mean time is beyond me (was he really THAT bored that he changed his clothes and peirced his ear?)

"Easycure: I love your 1Up Idea for stock battles. That would be great.

thank you Spak-spang; i kinda pulled that idea out of my ass though ol.
and i looove chaos in the matches. especially with more than two combatants. i didnt like the Mute City level but i thought Big Blue rocked. the pokemon stadium level was fun too but i wish there were some hazards with it as well. say the level turns water based and a blastoise or something pops up from somewhere (ala safron city level in smash1). throw a voltorb into the mix anyday!

EasyCure:  I like Randomness and Chaos in the events going on.  Crazy items being unleashed.  Bizzare level effects hurting all the combatants and such.

I just am not a big fan of the moving/scrolling levels.  To me they take away from planned combat and create a complexity that is uninviting.

Speaking of level effects.  I wish there was more of that in game...and not just things that hurt you, but that effect you in other ways.

How about QuickSand in a desert level that you can knock opponents in and slow them up.  (Like the Sand in Super Mario Brothers 2)

How about Conveyor Belts, or Boost Arrows that if you walk across give you a push forward?

Or a futuristic level that has an Anti-Gravity switch with different settings.  The Highest setting has you battling on the ceiling (Flipped over of course)

I think you could create some pretty imaginative level devices that could make levels interesting and feel new, but not have a scrolling effect.

KDR:  No it wouldn't.   Once you have less gravity you need a ceiling so that Smashes aren't TOO easy.  Though you could have a hole in the middle for Smashs.

But I figure with less gravity side Smashes would be easier, as they are going to fly further away with each hit.

Only if gravity affects the time until the character is controllable again, otherwise it merely forces you to hit the enemy across the boundary right away instead of seeing him drop out on his recovery attempt.

KDR:  I think its a balance.  Obviously, it is going to take someone more time to recover from a Smash hit with lower gravity...or rather the Hits will send you farther faster, therefore Recovery seems to take longer.  Jumping and such would be a bit higher and such.

This wouldn't be based on reality with low gravity.  But more a cartoon version of such a feat.  Hence with the lowest gravity characters could actually flip around and walk on the ceiling.

However, if you feel that wouldn't work.  You could just have a lower gravity level...and have the level be designed as to look more like the Joust levels.  Small Platforms spread out across great distance to travel.  Perhaps have the level be more Vertically focused than horizontally.  Just for kicks.

what about a pinball level? when you mentioned having a hole in the middle spak-spang i instantly thought of a pinball level. a view from the top of the machine to the bottom though, so that you'd be knocking opponents into the ....i dont know the term for it but yeah, the hole. and pinballs and bumpers/flippers everywhere...MADNESS I TELL YOU MADNESS!

More then anything I just want to be surprised. I remember when I first heard SSBM had Marth, Roy, Mewtwo, and Game & Watch, I was completely surprised. I NEVER would have guessed they'd use the characters they did and that got me uber hyped about the game.

I think theres a very good chance we'll see TP and WW link, Wario, something from Pikmin, and more Pokemon. What I really want to see is something that I never would've thought of ( ala Ice Climbers). That's one of my fav NES games, but I didn't even think of them being in SSBM. I also want to see Nintendo characters that I don't even know exsist.
Currently Playing: Twilight Princess(Wii), Castlevania: PoR(DS), Mario vs. Donkey Kong2(DS), Wii sports(Wii)
Anticipating: Mario Galaxy(Wii), Blue Dragon(360), Dragon Quest:Swords(Wii), Dragon Quest IX (DS)

I still say you're all destroying any chance you have at enjoying it when it DOES come out. Pre-conceptions about what something should be won't do anybody good. And with such a radical change in input, I'm sure there'll be changes that noone anticipated, that not everyone will get, and that a few will bemoan as utter lunacy.

All I want the game to be is what they intend it to be. The saddest thing to play is a game where you can feel what it almost is, but it's been chopped off at the knees.

i dont think any of us are ruining our chances for enjoying it when it is finally released. there will sitll be suprises. nintendo could add new modes to the mix, none of which we have ever commented on. most of the comments have been about leven design and characters, but i doubt anyone of us will be sorley dissapointed if our character of choice doesn't make it into the game. there will still be suprises packed in, and if some of us guessed right there will be the thrill of having something we came up with in the game, even if not exactly what we wanted.

as for having characters from nintendo you didnt even know existed? i say have a character from Burger Time. i dont know if that was made my nintendo or another developer but everytime i think of a game that no one else has really heard about, i think of that. no one ever really believes me when i tell them what you do in the game either, they just look at me like im making it all up.
