Topic: Battlestar Galactica - Or Why You Should Watch

It's the BEST show on TV! I'm as big a Lost and AD fan as anyone, but Battlestar is just ummmm AMAZING.

Forget everything you know about sci-fi shows. Forget it. This is the most dramatic, harshest and realistic sci-fi show ever.

"BUT I'S HATEZ SCI-FIZES DURHHRHR!" Ok, so maybe you do. Ask yourself this: would you be willing to watch a military show? Or at least give one a try? If so, Battlestar is for you. If you like sci-fi, Battlestar is for you. If you like drama, Battlestar is for you. If you like amazing TV, Battlestar is for you.

It's film documentary style with dark toned interiors and oversaturated exteriors. It has one of the most unique scores ever, as far removed from Star Wars (and the original series) as you can get. It has great effects (for TV) that it only uses when needed. There are NO CHEESY ALIENS or freaky languages. It's about real people fighting a war. It's got some of the mystery and myth of Lost, plus some of the absolute best acting on TV. The writing is sharp, intelligent and biting. Its full of political commentary but doesn't try and be topical. It's for adults and it's the best sci-fi show EVER.

The only reason Im slightly interested in the show is because Ive read that Homeworld's story is based on the classic series, and I love the homeworld story. Im going to check it out.

I dunno..I tried watching it a few times...I couldn't get into it.  I mean, I dig the omnipresent sense of doom hanging over everything, and the random "anyone could die at any moment" feel of the series...but..I dunno.

I guess I prefer stuff like Farscape and Firefly.

I did.  I watched the first couple of episodes when they originally showed. And...I couldn't get into it.

I think most people pretty much agree with that. It should've had an original name so it wouldn't have to be associated with the cheesy and childish original. I know when it first debued everyone was dreading it until they realized it not only fixed the thousand horrible elements of the original, but basically fixed all the problems with most sci-fi shows.

It's amazing, really. One of the cheesiest and most badly aged sci-fi series ever somehow spawned one of TV's two best dramas!

I watched an episode today, it was fine. I really, really like the absense of annoying "extraterrestrial races" like kilngons or wookies or all that crap.

Yeah, it's a totally different expeirence. The more you get into it the better it gets, too.

Battlestar's not bad.  I (yes, randomly) watched an episode the other day and I enjoyed it.  If I can find the time I'll get into it, if not, I'll stick with Lost.

Odyssey 5 beats all of these shows, but Battlestar Galactica is indeed the best Sci-fi show on right now.
