Router Compatibility Ratings Updated
« on: November 17, 2005, 09:28:28 AM »
I just wanted to let everyone know that Nintendo is continually updating its Router Compatibility Ratings, so if you're planning on buying a new router for Nintendo Wi-Fi, make sure it's on the newest list.

I mention this because my current router (D-Link 514) isn't compatible with Nintendo Wi-Fi.  I was planning on upgrading to the D-Link 524.  Lucky for me I put it off for a week because I just checked this morning and it turns out not all versions of the 524 are compatible.  Since no online site (that I know of) will guarantee I'll get the latest version of the 524 I have to go with the D-Link 624 instead.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Yeah, it's still inaccurate though.  Someone emailed me a fix for my WRT54GC, and it had nothing to do with WEP.  (I don't know why they say WEP doesn't work...)

Hmm, I setup a Dlink 524 for a friend mainly for the DS, I'll have to test it out and post my findings.

I have the DL-524 and was having intermitent problems connecting and then went in and changed the settings giving my DS a static IP for the home network and now I connect fine. Still have had a few disconnects but I can connect easily at home.

*edit* I checked the hardware version and I actually have Ver. A1, the one Nintendo says is incompatable

I have the DI-514 maybe I will be able to do the same you did with the DI-524A. I can't test it right now because my DS is being repaired... I already have MK, I really want to play!

EDIT: I received my DS today and no the DI-514 doesn't work at all, if somebody has a fix that would be apreciated.

A fix!!!  Please please, tell me what the fix is.  I really don't want to disable encryption on my WRT54GC just to get my DS online!

Thanks!

TYP emailed me the fix to get the WRT54GC to work with the DS.  Here is the scoop...

Go to Wireless >> Advanced Wireless

Set the Transmission rate to 54M.

I just joined and replied to say a great big huge THAAANK YOOOU!!

I've been trying for ages to get my little WRT54GC to work at work, and on rare occasions it would connect...

But after applying your setting in the 'Advanced Wireless Settings' section, it works a treat, each and every time I connect and with WEP!

This should be added to the router compatibility ratings somehow, but how does one go about doing this?

Thanks again,

J
