3D Zelda four swords

I'm hopinbg that the new zelda game for ds looks as good as ocarina of time on the DS.It would be awesome to play big 3d dungeons with your friends on the ds with similar gameplay to the four swords.

3D Zelda should stay on consoles where it belongs...

I'm with Bill.  Boy, how often to I say THAT?

Anyhoo Zelda, like Metroid and Mario, works well in both 2D and 3D and thus both formats should continue to be made.  2D games sadly don't sell too well on consoles so an ideal pattern is to have the portable games be 2D and the console games be 3D.  If 3D on portables becomes the norm then 2D could be killed off.

(Ahaha, Ian)

And there's one other thing to worry about...If you have 3D versions of Zelda coming out for both console AND handheld, you are using up ideas twice as fast and the gameplay is twice as likely to get old...There is a large gap between 2D and 3D versions of Zelda, and limiting the ideas that separate the two just because the "hardware is powerful enough to" is hardly reason enough to do so...

Well if four swords WERE in 3D then there could be no single plaer mode beacuse it wouldn't work as well.

Ummm... do you mean the opposite? If it were in 3D (this is assuming that it didn't have an overhead perspective) then you wouldn't be able to see everyone else around you like in the GC Four Swords.

why wouldnt it work?
if it can jump 2d to 3d in 1player, then why wouldnt 2-4 player also work?
people seem to work together well when there in the same room (sadly same isnt for online rpg's), i can easly see a group of ppl working together on complex puzzles or fighting a bunch of badguys.

i'd just rather them do a 2d game because it will look much prettier. the DS can do some fierce 3D, but the crummy textures we've all seen in the 3D titles doesn't really excite me over a 3D Zelda game. Now, if they want to release Master Quest and sell it for a low price, I'd buy that.  [i apologize to Ian for giving nintendo another opportunity to release a port]

. .. a recent interview said that you'd mostly control the DS zelda w/ a stylus, which leads me to believe that it will be 2d, with the top screen serving as a map and inventory (which you can pull down to the bottom screen by pressing select, thus allowing quicker inventory swaps) and hte bottom screen containing all of the action. i don't know how we control attacks, probably touch Link's left side for weapon B and his right flank for his sword/weapon A.

or maybe the bottom screen is used for a 3d first person view for shooting various projectile weapons (just like the bob-omb game on sm64ds or the bird game in warioware)

hell i dont know
I'll shut up now...

I would prefer they keep the portable Zeldas 2d.  It can still look sweet in 2d.  I would like to see the four sword become a staple item we attain in Zelda games allowing for four player in both the portable and consoles versions of future Zelda games.

Its real simple.  How do you make a great game better?  Make it cooperative.

The way 4swords plays in single player wouldn't work in 3D. It would just feel weird to control 4 Links in 3D.
