"Graphics / Game Engine = not the same thing."

So you're telling me most of the people I counted as complaining about the graphics were actually talking about the game engine of a game nobody has played?

Thanks for proving my point, which is that people here are bitching about nothing.

I guess that means I've moved from the "people complaining about people complaining about the graphics" to the "people complaining about people complaining about nothing" group.

And all I see is fewer people who are contesting that it looks like Pokemon Colloseum because all we have to go by so far is graphics.

So where's this "graphics" debate you mentioned then subsequently backpedalled away from?

I hope you're not actually taking this seriously, by the way.

The internet is SERIOUS business. Your post makes no sense. Let's interview each individual poster and ask them what they were complaining about, okay?

You're right, what was I thinking? It's the Pikmin in my head. They make me do crazy things.

How do we word the question in a way that won't bias the answers? Methinks we need to hire an impartial arbiter to pen it for us. And voting should be anonymous to reduce peer pressure. And we need combinational water and fire elemental helmets to remove the effects of random Pikmin. If the fire doesn't get them, the water will.

I hear NAL are wanting to get involved with Pokemon. They plan to turn the series into a top-down shooter with FFX-2 elements (:-O short skirts plz) and a story involving a giant ship in the shape of a goat, which is captained by Falcon. PAAAAAUNCH!

blol, make fake rumours on this enternit, everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusions

From those pics I don't know how anyone can assume anything by it.  It looks like the same as the rpg mode in Colloseum.  From those pics, how can anyone assume it'll be either a full blown rpg or another rpg mode from a Colloseum sequal?  This game can be taken in a few different directions.  It can be a full blown rpg with colloseum gameplay as a secondary play mode.  It can be another colloseum game where the rpg mode is the secondary play mode.  It can also be just a straight rpg pokemon.  Everyone relax, there isn't enough info to start making claims on how this game will eventually turn out.  I personally think the rpg aspects are going to play a much bigger role this time out in the game.

Orrrrrr it could be just Pokemon Colosseum 2... Just as you are presenting possibilities so are we....

And see my previous posts as to why I think the generic sequel is slightly more likely...

I don't see why it's so unreasonable to see some screenshots of a franchise game that look exactly like another recent game in the series and assume that it would be a direct sequel.  So next time I see screen shots for a Tomb Raider game I shouldn't assume it will be like the other Tomb Raider games?  I guess it could be a completely unrelated title that just looks real similar right?

If you assume that everything is going to be super awesome then you're going to be disappointed a lot.  I think just the fact that it looks exactly like Pokemon Colloseum, which was a huge success financially, suggests that there's a very good chance it will be a direct sequel.  There's no evidence whatsoever to support it could be something else.  It COULD be I suppose but with what we've seen the odds of it being Pokemon Colloseum 2 are REALLY good.

I haven't played Colloseum, nor have I played Pokemon, aside from one of the first gameboy games and Snap for the 64, and while my guess is not really accurate at all, I'd suggest assuming that, for now, it's a game that will more closely resemble a sequel to colloseum than a pokemon rpg.  At least so you're not disappointed.  Just wait for more info to come out.

"If you assume that everything is going to be super awesome then you're going to be disappointed a lot."

Nobody's assuming the game is going to be super awesome. There's people assuming the game is going to suck and there's other people (like me) telling them not to assume. We're arguing the same cause for different sides.

I don't think you're being very fair. What about the whole "strong allies" thing?

They wouldn't have to change engines even if they made the game a full Pokemon RPG. The engine has zero (okay, very little) to do with gameplay. As Colosseum already had an engine suitable for an RPG (it doesn't matter that the resulting game wasn't very good), they'd perhaps have to add random spawn zones for wild Pokemon and a catch system to have everything they'd need for making a full Pokemon RPG.

Wow, this thing grew. Guess I should come back and insert my comments.

i agree 100% with Bill. No one here should assume the game will be a Pokemon Colosseum sequel. i am not saying that it is definately an RPG, I am saying I don't have a clue what it is, but don't assume it's a sequel. Why? Because we haven't been given ANY INFORMATION!

And all this garbage with "Oh it looks like Pokemon Colosseum so it must be Pokemon Colosseum". If I showed you a screenshot of Mario what would you think? Super Mario Sunshine? Mario Golf? Mario Party? Mario Tennis? Mario Baseball? See where I am going with this? Those games look similar but are completely different games. You can't tell what a game will be just by a few screenshots.

Lastly, about the graphics looking crappy - It's to be expected early in development. They have like a year (or whenever they are going to release it, but it aint gonna be near future) to improve on it. Every game starts out looking that bad. They are most likely focusing on more important mechanics right now. Games always vastly improve in graphics from when they are first shown to when they go gold. So can we end this "grafx suxx0rs" arguement before I have to pull out images of Ocarina of Time when it was first announced on the N64?

GameGossip reported that Nintendo will release the second GameCube Pokemon battle / RPG game Pokemon Colosseum II in July in US.
Granted this is MagicBox who post about every rumor, and I've never heard of game gossip....but it still looks to be correct...seeing as it would be shortly after pokemon emerald comes out... =(
