I agree with Ian on the "product placement". If the game had generic made-up items, I don't think it would have as much personality, this way it feels more like the characters are really digging around a garden somewhere in my neighbourhood.
I didn't mind the time limit in the first game, it really forced me to make the most of my resources. The caves in Pikmin 2 sort of do the same thing, but it's more about conserving Pikmin than multitasking and solving puzzles. Overall I think I like Pikmin 2 better, but the first one is by no means obsolete because of this game.
Has anyone else gotten the same freaking e-mail from the President like three days in a row? I found that to be a real disappointment because I think the e-mails (and journal entries in the first game) are a fun way to flesh out the storyline. Not a big deal, but up until I saw that the game was bordering on perfection in my opinion.
