Megaman Network Transmission...I can't beat Bass

It's as simple as the title.  I can't beat Bass.  He's just too strong.  I hit him about a million times, and he loses about 1/8 of his life bar and he hits me 3 times and I'm dead!  He's my favorite character in the MM games, but I'm hating him right now!  Any strategies?  Does anyone even play this game?
