Twin Snakes Coming Next Week
« on: March 02, 2004, 07:06:39 AM »
Here's a friendly little reminder that Solid Snake's game is coming out soon.  Very soon.

Konami to ship METAL GEAR SOLID®: THE TWIN SNAKESTM Worldwide in March

Critically acclaimed multi-million selling Metal Gear Solid® franchise debuts on Nintendo GameCube™

KONAMI CORPORATION (CEO: Kagemasa Kozuki, hereafter "Konami") is set to release its first METAL GEAR SOLID series title for the Nintendo GameCubeTM, METAL GEAR SOLID®: THE TWIN SNAKESTM, beginning in North America on March 9th with releases following in Japan (March 11th) and European markets (March 26th).

With a unique game system that favours infiltration over attacking enemies, the internationally popular METAL GEAR SOLID® series also employs beautiful graphics and suspenseful action to create an elaborate human drama from its complex story of friendship, love, and betrayal. The series, which has received universally high accolades across the world, has sold fourteen million units worldwide.

This latest installment recreates the near-future scenario from METAL GEAR SOLID® for PlayStation® (released 1999), in which mercenary Solid Snake infiltrates a nuclear weapon disposal facility occupied by high-tech special military forces on a mission to rescue hostages and prevent a nuclear missile launch. The new version includes a new play system, a greater variety of action, beautiful new graphics, and all-new cinematic sequences.

Canada's Silicon Knights (President: Denis Dyack, Major Software Title: Eternal Darkness), one of the most respected Nintendo GameCubeTM developers, has produced the game under guidance from game Designer/Director Hideo Kojima. Meanwhile, filmmaker Ryuhei Kitamura, who is known for such films as "Aragami" and "Azumi", directed the game's storytelling demo sequences and oversaw all motion capture work. As a result, players are sure to be amazed by the game's strong movie-like quality.

"I have now been in the video game business for eighteen years and I would never have gotten into this industry if not for Nintendo's Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto," says Hideo Kojima, Vice President of Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, Inc. "I am very happy to see the original METAL GEAR SOLID® game on a Nintendo console."

"Through the collaboration with film director Mr. Ryuhei Kitamura and the skilled staff at Silicon Knights, I hope everyone enjoys this new version, reborn with new talent on a new platform," he added.

Konami is working hard to strengthen its brand by creating high-quality original content for the international market. The latest title in the METAL GEAR SOLID® series METAL GEAR SOLID®: THE TWIN SNAKESTM has been designed with that in mind and is certain to enjoy the success of its illustrious predecessors.

OFFICIAL Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Discussion

there's already a thread about this subject.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Apparently there's a commercial out, but I don't know if it's Japanese or not.  There was Japanese text, but English dialogue.  Check the official website.

And of course I'll be picking this up the moment it arrives.

Ill be getting it too, i just wish it got some due press and some air time on TV so it can sell well enough. If it sells poorly Konami will shun Nintendo entirely

Er.. no this is Konami's deal.  Nintendo has little to do with MGS advertising.

Nintendo has helped with Third Party Advertisement. They had the Gamecube symbol come in at the end of EA sports commercials with that nifty Connected symbol..

It would be wise for Nintendo to help with the advertisement here, even if Konami is publishing it... Nintendo is the one developing it

No, SK is developing it. They maybe second party, but they are a developer in thier own right.

Hold on, SK is a 2nd party of Nintendo, so Nintendo must be involved with TTS somehow.

Advertising for Metal Gear Solid shouldn't be that necessary anyway.  Just the presence of that game on the shelf should encourage sales.  Though advertising always helps.  Konami advertised the hell out of both the original and Substance version of MGS2 so I would imagine they'll do the same here.

Though how bizarre would it be if two SK games in a row bombed due to a lack of advertising.  I would start to suspect some big wig at Nintendo has it in for SK and their "mature" style of videogames.

Doesn't Pokemon Colleseum come out this month too?  What happened to trying to space out major releases?

Two titles coming out within a week or two of each other is your idea of squishing titles in together? :\

The name game after that is Wario Ware which doesn't come out till the end of April...

i hardly think wario ware counts as a major release.  people like us may be ecstatic about it, but i somehow think we're in the minority.

"Two titles coming out within a week or two of each other is your idea of squishing titles in together?"

When they're of that sort of calibre yes.  I don't have the time to play more than one major title a month.  It bugs the hell out of me when there is like a three month gap between must-own titles and then every game under the sun is released in November.  Considering that the Cube doesn't have the kind of support to have over 12 killer-apps a year it seems odd to have two of them released only two weeks apart.

here's a thought--don't buy pokemon colleseum the day it comes out.  wait until april.  they're not going to run out of copies of the game.  hell, go back and get one of those games you missed out on in november and play pokemon in may.  it's not like the games have a self destruct sequence if you don't finished them in a given period of time.

plus, not everyone is interested in both titles.  personally, i've never caught the poke-fever.  would it be fair to me if twin snakes was pushed back a couple months to fill a small gap?

This game is going to drive me into the poor house... along with other releases this month. Hell, I'm still going through FF: CC and then Harvest Moon, Phantasy Star Online III, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, and Pokémon Colleseum all out this month... God, I just realized I would have killed for a month like this in the N64 days, and now that its here my wallet is going to kill me

Well, good then to live in Europe, we 'only' get FFCC, MGS, Harvest Moon and UT2004. I'm still considering skipping FFCC to protect my wallet somewhat...
