GameCube Busted..... any suggestions??
« on: January 12, 2004, 09:34:04 AM »
It's a stretch, i know, but maybe someone can help...

My basement flooded last night (Damn winter!) and left my game cube immersed in about a half inch of water for a while. I woke up and realized this, and took it upstairs to dry. So i let it dry for a few hours, then plugged it in and fired it up. It works initially, but it makes a high pitched whistling sound that gets lower and lower (like a bomb dropping) and then craps out at a certain point. After this, it won't work at all for a few minutes, but if i give it a break it will do the same thing again.

Does anyone know what this might be??

Hahaha that pretty funny. Yeah I would have to jdub there. Grab a new one since they are like 100 USD a pop these days...

Note: Go beat up old man winter with a bat that has the said gamecube attached to it with a rusty nail.

it's a long shot, since you already turned it on.  (bad idea by the way.  should've left it dry for a couple days at least.  if not a week)  if you have a self-defrosting freezer, wrap up the gamecube in wax paper or something, and throw it in there for a week.  great little trick with electronics.  as the freezer does it's "self-defrosting"  it takes moisture out of the freezer.  probably your best shot.
