Soul Calibur 2 Help!

Anyone who can answer my questions post.  I was wondering if any characters in the game other than Talim can side step.  She is the only one i figured it out with.  Also, any tips for when im Link and im Agains Rapheal or Cassandra...i can never win against those characters when my friends use them.  Answer!
