It depends on what you define as better. They are 2 different types of games. SSX is trick based, where 1080 is racing based. 1080 is more reliatic and SSX is more fantasy.

the ssx tricky that i bought recently for 9 bucks new at best buy has two ways to play. trick based and RACE based missions.

Yeah i downloaded that off gamecubeland.com ...its originally from GCA...anyway that was the first time I saw the avalanche...it look really good and have he game fully paid off...less then three weeks to go.

Thanks to avid reader, Robert Miller, we've uncovered a working movie file of the opening scene of 1080: Avalanche.

The file was actually available for media view last week during the snowboarding game's teleconference call event. However, Nintendo's link was a broken one.

1080 Avalanche looks to be one of the most improved games of this generation. I am personally looking forward to this one more than Mario Kart. 1080 was one of my favorite games on the N64, NST delivered with Wave Race B.S., and it looks like they have done it again with 1080.

I showed the video to one of my friends, and he kept saying that SSX3 was much better, up until the point they showed one of the boarders wiping out and slamming through traffic. I think that alone sold him.

oh yeah, a border got hit by a car was the most surprising scene ive seen from NINTENDO. my mouth was wide open... now if NINTENDO would get someone famous to endorse the product, like let say a famous snow boarder, i would think the name alone would double the sells. beside the game is already a simulation so i would think that it would be perfect. think about it, 1080 SNOWBOARDING featuring "SO AND SO".

I don't think Ricky(the boarder in the scene) was hit by the car...It looks like the car stopped(notice the streetlight is red) and he landed a trick wrong in the middle of the road...If he was truely hit by the car, his momentum would be sideways(following the path of the car) and not forward...

Wow, that is an impressive video. SSX3 is a larger than life game guys.

They ARE two different games. 1080 Avalanche is more like a sim. I didn't say it was a sim, it's just more a sim than SSX3.

That was AWESOME! 2003 is going to be known as, "The Year of the Snowboard." Seriously, SSX3 is already the second best snowboarding game ever in my book(The original 1080 being first), and now Avalanche is looking to be ATLEAST as awesome as either of those two. I can't wait!
